THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Interesting Images from the Bryce Gallery..... 15th Nov -> now

Flak ( ) posted Thu, 20 November 2003 at 5:56 PM Ā· edited Sat, 30 November 2024 at 10:03 AM

As someone suggested.... we should do what they do in the poser forum and make lists of some of the more interesting things in the bryce gallery. Well, here's my start. Selection criteria was that its not in the HOT20 (if it is in the hot20, then it doesn't need to be brought to anyones attention) and only one per person. This has been taken back to a part of the way through the 15th November and represents stuff I found interesting and well done. http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=543650 "Chosen" by TMC, Bryce Abstract http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=543552 "Craters" By amethyss, Bryce & Nature/Landscape http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=543366 "Cohabitation Hallucinatoire d'Ordre 3" By redinard, Bryce & Atmosphere/Mood http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=543232 "Hideout" By ocddoug, Bryce & Atmosphere/Mood http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=542942 "the tower of Moravia at night" By whiskeysierra, Bryce & Fantasy http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=542923 "Jungle" By orbital, Bryce & Nature/Landscape http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=542861 "House of Dysphoria" By soulstripper, Bryce & Gothic http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=542562 "In heart of forest" By Sam2003, Bryce & Nature/Landscape http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=542206 "The announcement" By gevidal, Bryce & Unknown http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=541818 "Copter Concept "Talon"" By Mr_Senator, Bryce & Modeling http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=541631 "Despues del fuego" By Chiquitier, Bryce & Nature/Landscape http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=541479 "fractal_magic39" By mayoeru50, Bryce & Fractal http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=541328 "Overkill" By Mrdodobird, Bryce & Science Fiction http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=541262 "Molecular Mutation" By lgp692000, Bryce & Unknown http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=540516 "Churchyard" By sackrat, Bryce & Architecture

Disclaimour - I'm sure I've missed some.... also tried to find some from people who's names aren't often seen around the place.

I read that thread earlier today that Doug started about that one-horned black horse. I have to say that I completely agree with the assessment of his/her work. I did a quick check of his/her gallery and saw very few pictures that I would rank at anything other than something like a "hmmmmmm" but they were ranked as excellent. It really is a slap-in-the-face to those who do such excellent work when this person's work makes it into the Hot20 and apparently regularly. One thing that struck me was that the number of rankings and the number of comments was so equal on so many of his/her images. In my experience, the ratio tends to not be that high...maybe 50-60% of the comments have a rank also. I'm all for doing some promotion and banding together for those who do work that actually deserves to be in the Hot20.

This isn't really about banding together - doing that just forms cliques (hope thats how you spell it) and I think we can live without those ;) From what I've seen on this site and others, cliques or "in crowds" are the root of all evil. And seriously, its not about having a jab at anyone. I think the idea of having a "this stuff is great but never made the hot20" thread every so often is a good thing. Hopefuly it'll do a couple of things.... - give a little exposure to some of the newer or less well known people around here, assuming of course that anyone actually looks at these lists and visits the pics and drop a few comments about the place. Nothing like a couple of positive comments to really help someone feel good and encouraged about what they're trying to do. (The increased exposure thing was one of the positives I really found came about from the change in the HOT20 times from 15 days to 7 days - a lot more different people get in there now than used to. Bravo PTB on that one.) - it may draw a few more people into participating in the forums a little more, and hopefully it would serve as a creative boost to see what other people are doing. Swap ideas, knowledge..... If a picture gets missed in this lot, but you think it really deserved a look, let me know and I'll maybe add it onto the next list in 5 days time or whatever. Whether this idea keeps going or not will depend on what response I see or read. Thanks for your time. And thanks JC_01 for the html.

What I like about this brainstorm is that it gives me an opportunity to view another's concept of what they find interesting. Also a chance to view a couple of images I missed browsing.Good thread.(and a humble thank you for adding my image)

Great list Flak! Ummm Eelie, since I did a black Unicorn...did I offend anyone? :O It did make it to the Hot20, and in all honesty...having become active in this forum after quite a while...I can honestly say there wasn't any clique involved. I've yet to visit all those who put in their comments on my page! :(

Great, thankyou for the list. I had found some of these, but not all. Good mixture.

I guess I didn't express that right. Sorry! :O I didn't mean to say that we should all get together and vote someone into the Hot20 just because they're a regular to the forum or something. Just what you've all said... That we should all be aware that there are some great works here that don't get voted in and, for me, a lot of the time it's because I just don't have time to browse the gallery so I miss some. If someone is willing to take the time and put together a list, I'm all for it! Thanks Flak for being that willing.
