Writers F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 29 6:28 am)
I hope you have a very enjoyable and happy Thanksgiving dialyn. The same goes for everyone else who pops in here. I'm actually writing again (I have been busy with other things for the past few months) so I hope to post something soon. Shanna :-) currently thinks she is the no.1 lurker in the writers forum.
It was a very nice Thanksgiving, thank you. I'm glad to read that you are writing again. It gives me something to look forward to. I keep distracting myself. This time it is Vue, fresh out of the package. Vue is a lot more fun than the modeling programs. It fools me into thinking I'm actually accomplishing something when, in fact, I'm not doing much at all.
I have been trying really hard NOT to let anything distract me from writing, but I ended up taking all of October off so I could get ready to do children's activities at a filk convention, anyway. [helpless shrug] But whether letting things get in the way of your writing is a problem, is all a matter of where your priorities are, right? If writing is something you do "just for fun" then where is the harm in letting something else that you also do "just for fun" happen instead? I have umpteen zillion hobbies (okay, maybe only a dozen or so) and I used to happily let any one interfere with any of the others, but I've finally bit the bullet and decided that writing isn't a hobby for me, it's a career. and that's why I've been really strict with myself over writing quotas and so forth, and why after taking a vaction for all of October, I am not taking a vacation this week. But even after spending most of the morning writing, I still had a lovely Thanksgiving, and I'm thankful for this group, for your good wishes, and for a husband who does all the cooking when he's home (because he's so much better at it than I am.) :) PS. Vue sounds like a lot of fun, but I really think I'd rather have a copy of Mojoworld Generator. I find that program just way too cool. So Vue is going to have to accept second place on my wish -list.
Mojo World Generator does, indeed, look like a nice product. I got swayed by the sale (discount on Vue if you have Poser 5, ends November 30th)...what can I say, I can resist anything except a bargain! Oh, I might have married had I been able to find me a cooking/cleaning kind of husband, but I couldn't so I have two dogs and a cat instead (and they do NOTHING). I guess I didn't get the best of that deal. Congratulations on your determination! That's really the only way to make it happen...start, stick to it, finish. Not so mystical, is it? Except that it is darn hard work sometimes. Looking to a weekend of avoidance, myself. :) Write on!
Gee, my cats will happily help with housework by cleaning the plates for us (with their tongues.) ;-) I haven't done any real writing in months, but the stories are really starting to scream at me, demanding to be written, and I may soon have lots of time to write (not entirely voluntarily, either) so I should be able to really get cracking again soon. My problem is that once I make headway in one area, I get bored and find something else to bash my head against for a while until I start improving, then it's off to the first challenge again. I'm somewhere between a tinkerer and a diletante, I suppose. Well, now that the house is quiet again for a few weeks, we'll see if I can get some stuff worth posting here, again. Cheers!
