Tom,

Some graphics cards do not do well with VUE. My suggestion would be to disable the OpenGL and work with a wireframe models. It makes things work alot faster and easier.
Just go to the file pull down and choose options. When the window opens you will see on the right side towards the top the option for Use OpenGL. Make sure it is unchecked. It will ask you to restart the VUE program. Just close Vue and reopen it and there ya go.
