Hello Good People, Some members make images with awesome skys/clouds. Are the clouds backround images or is bryce able to make such awesome skies? I tried making clouds with spheres but most times they look like big cotton balls hehe. I guess im asking, am i just walking down a dead end on making clouds or are they touched up images of skys/clouds? Thanks for any help! Peace

Bryce clouds = tricky. I still feel that part of my Bryce building to be "work". Best, quick suggestion is to make the spheres that you are using to make your clouds with very, very big. Put them far away if you need to, but I have the best luck when I make those sphere's giant sized. AS

I usually start with the thicker/denser cloud presets and then tweak from there. I don't have much luck (myself) making the whisp-ier looking cloud presets look good. But, there are a lot of members here who do. Bryce volumetrics don't like me very much, lol. AS

Instead of spheres try using rocks and make them more transparent and fuzzy..

"Reinstall Windows" is NOT a troubleshooting step.

AGOR has some great skyz in the market place and some great ones as freebies if you can find them on the net. Some tuts on sky creation to the limits of Bryce can be found over at 3d commune. Pinhead and a few others have really outdone themselves. http://www.pinhead.robbes.com/tutorial/B5skylat/B5skylat.html http://www.pinhead.robbes.com/tutorial/bryce4_sky/Combinationsky1.htm http://www.pinhead.robbes.com/tutorial/bryce4_sky/Combinationsky2.htm

Aye, Xceiverx, I personally try to stay away from Photo skies, no matter how beautiful they are they really don't teach you anything about Bryce or it's procedurals. I've only developed ONE good, really good skylab sky, which I used on my fortress image and also on my Release image, and I'll probably continue to use it as long as I can keep it looking original. (these two links...) http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=418901 (Shadow's Wall) http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=387985 (Release) (If you've seen them, cool, if not, they are examples of what the SKy Lab is capable of...) Lately though I've been playing with Volumetrics, putting a radial light set to squared falloff inside of a Volume slab and letting the GEL bring out the textures... It works wonderfully and produces some amazing results, give it a whirl! Here's an example...

Another thing would be to ask the new guy, Pendulum, his clouds are thick and totally awesome...!

If you need any source materials, I'd try VanLippe's clouds, they are by far the best mats i've found online, and with a little tweaking and stuff you'll be satisfied in no time...
