Hmmmm! I have been researching digital cameras, and the Nikon D100 started out at about $2,300. Today I saw it for $1,499. I am told that within the next 6 to 9 mos you should be able to pick up this camera for under a grand! So if the Nikon D100 is what you are looking at, it may pay to wait a few months. I have also been checking out the Canon EOS Rebel digital, this would probably be my second choice, I have always liked the Canon quality as far as 35mm SLR's go. I am very much interested in digital cameras that have interchangeable lenses with the 35mm SLR. I just picked up a copy of shutterbug magazine. Some good deals in there on all models of digital cameras, and definately worth a look! If cheap is what you are looking for, and you are not interested in submitting your digital work to magazines and publishers. The camera I bought two years ago (Sony Mavica FD100) should have dropped considerably in price. (I paid $400 for mine). Take a look at my gallery by clicking on my name, every image that you see in there was taken with the Mavica. (landscapes, scenery etc.) Unfortunately, it does not have high enough resolution for digital submissions. I have actually been quite impressed with my Sony digital, I like the fact that the pictures I take are recorded on a 3.5" file disc and it doesn't take any special equipment to be able to view your pix, just plug them into your computer, it also takes a memory stick, that I have never used. I hope that helped you a bit. You may also want to check out Consumer Reports. :) Brenda :)
