Actually , reflection map , bump map and transparancy maps also come into play. After applying your texture, play with these settings to get different results. For instance, many people don't know that Poser comes with two metallic reflection maps in the reflection maps folder. These maps when applied will give your object a realistic metallic shine. Applied with differen't strengths onto translucent objects, like a rectangle that is 97 % transparant, you get a nice looking window or sheet of glass. This can also be used for wet effects. Only way to really get good effects is to play around with the differen't settings till you get a desirable result.
