Subject: Problems with "Body Hair"

eggi ( ) posted Thu, 18 December 2003 at 1:02 AM ยท edited Fri, 02 August 2024 at 6:53 AM

Hi, I have modificated a HighRes Texture for Poser 5 Julie (Vicky Texture). The "genital Hair" was made by myself. As I rendered the figure with the Poser 5 renderer (I forgott the name) the genital hair is very blurred! I used Photoshop 7 and a hair brush that I found in the net. Has anyone some tipps for drawing genital hair on a texture? Bumb maps are not supported in the Poser 5 renderer. Please help me! thanks eggi

What render settings did you use? The "Draft" settings trade quality for speed, so you will get much sharper results by simply switching to production mode. The P5 renderer does support bump maps, btw.

I dont used the "production-mode" I have just used the "FirwFly " (now I know the name of the P5 renderer ;-) in "Draft" mode. I used the following settings: - use displacement... ON - Raytracing ON - Cast Shadows OFF - Smooth polygons ON - Remove backfacing... ON - Use texture filtering ON In the other setting Field I have made no changes. What kind of settings do I need for a realistic result? >>The P5 renderer does support bump maps, btw. << I have read somewere the P5 does not support bumb maps with FireFly! Just in the P4 renderer you can use bumb maps is it right? Greets eggi

On the top of the render settings dialog, click on "Production" to get the quality optimized settings. For an in-depth explanation of all the parameters, see my web site (link above). No FireFly supports bump maps just fine. What it doesn't support are .bum files, they need to be converted to proper bump maps first.

I see you came from germany. Lothar Matths would say "my english is not very good" By the way, my english too ;-) So we can talk in german.

Sorry I dont speak or understard german. I have had similar issues in Poser 5 and body hair. You may wish to look at and adjust the value of: "Minimum shading rate(pixel area)" in the render options its right below al the checkboxes. the smaller the value the sharper hair will look. I have found 0.500 to work well. hope this helps.
