Wings is free, great block modeler. You can even link Pov-Ray for the render engine. Import scale is 20.0 and export is 0.05 for poser objects. Very easy to work with. Gimp is like Photo Shop and PSP. Uses layers and so on, also free. UVMapper for texture templates, free again. Or you can do the UV in wings. Thought I would throw this at you. You can find out if everyone likes it or not, without the cost.
