They have occasionally put a Christmas item in the newsletter as a freebie, IIRC, but I think it was in the middle of summer. This tree would also be a great Real Deals item... without the decorations it can be used all year. They might also have a day of grace on Christmas or soon after where you can pick up missed items, but the reason to spread them out is to get people dropping by daily (a good habit) and perhaps also to spread out the load on their servers.
