forfend we do not live up to some viewers sexual preferences in the models we pick
That all depends upon how much you want to sell to a certain type of viewer.
That's why all of the real-life female news anchors these days are V3 clones. The network executives KNOW what sells.
Who wants to watch somebody that looks like Walter Concrite? No, we'd rather have our war reports given out by a 20-something blue-eyed blonde.
How come the black woman that was captured in Iraq has recieved virtually NO attention in the media? What was that woman's name, anyway? But the pretty Jessica Lynch -- she's all over the place. I wonder why?
And why did we hear so much about Elizabeth Smart? I guarantee you - if Elizabeth Smart had been 120 lbs., and dough-faced -- we'd have NEVER known who she was.
Same thing for the Laci Peterson case. If Laci Peterson hadn't been cute & perky - we'd all be saying: Laci who?
You can rage against it all that you like. The fact remains: Looks Make for Good Copy.
At least, this is true for women.
Life just isn't fair.
