Well,I did everything possible to keep this one fair as we blocked the use of name tags on images,no one knew who the artists were or the judges (^one of the judges above folks MJ^)...there were eight judges with different tastes in art and a point system that offered every artist a fair chance. In a community vote, the fatal flaw tends to be that artists will begin asking people they know to vote for them...for newbies this is what is referred to as trolling.Favoritism is also a problem as if voters/judges recognise an artist, they may be more inclined to vote for that person based on who they are rather than the work they've created.I set this contest up sort of as a test run for a new way of handling contests fairly. Contests should be fun for everyone as even when you lose you should at least be content that you lost fairly so you can deal with it...everyone put a lot of hard work into their images and I for one respect that! So,when I decided to do this one I wanted to make sure that everyone would be treated as fairly as possible and that everyone would at least get a little something for entering to show appreciation for their hard work. In this one,I specifically tried to find some sponsors that don't normally sponsor contests...for some its completely new and they were thrilled to participate. The key thing for them is that the contest be fair, there are no bitter feelings and their support is truly appreciated...no one wants to support a contest if its not going to be fair and a lot of bitterness follows. In closing,if any of you are thinking of starting a contest and want some advice or a judge...just send me an IM and I'll help anyway I can.Next up is trying to figure out how to make the community vote more fair-that's a hard one lol. Thanks again to all 42 entrants, your submissions were awesome and it was extremely difficult to judge I assure you;)
