Have you noticed any weird behaviour in other applications? If so, you may have a bad memory block. It happened to me a few months ago - seemingly random crashes drove me up the wall with frustration! I tried running memtest and voil- bad DIMM. I now do it almost regularly - unfortunately it doesn't help me with Vue Pros lockups, but that's another story..
