Your theory is sound, Sebastian (welcome to Renderosity). This procedure has been used in the past to convert clothes between figures which have the same mesh, although Morph Manager is not usually involved; The Tailor can make full body morphs. Where the figures don't have the same mesh, sometimes a talented member of the community such as Lord Nakagawa will make a "mannequin" which performs the same task. However these have to be approved by DAZ. Joint parameters are usually taken care of by a conforming pose which injects them into the new CR2. Again, this requires someone with skill and time to do it. I can't verify any of this for the opposite reason: I don't have Stephanie 3. However I have tried it with other figures.
