Hi Esther,
I am sure SP3 has some really nice features. Just like I know V3 has some advantages over V2. But I still use V2 most, because she is what I am most familiar/comfortable with using, and I have the most add-ons for her. Also, because I am good with magnets and jp settings, so it is fairly easy for me to convert a outfit I like from another figure over to fit her - or viseversa on those rarer occassions.
For me, I would seriously give Spanki's suggestion a try first, and use magnets to see if I can shape the figure as I wanted. It also appears that you have not as yet tried all the dial combinations for the hip and buttocks, etc., to see if you can get the shape you want.
Of course, you have to balance that. If tweaking figures is not really your thing, and you do not care to spend a lot of time with magnets and morphs to shape the body like you want it - and you can not find a ready made package like Ember that will give you the results you want - than you may be better off to go with SP3 and buy the clothing you need for her.
There is a real difference between Poser users as I see them. Some folks love to tinker and tweak, and do not mind morphs and magnets and hours of frustration in experimenting. Other prefer things ready to go right out of the box. If you are the latter, than your only real option is going with the figure you like best, which would seem to be SP3, and buying more clothing for her.
Oh, and since Tailor was mentioned. It is really great on some mesh. My experience using it has been hit and miss. As a result, I rarely use it. I prefer using the magnets. To me, the magnets, wave deformer, and grouping tool are very useful tools to have - but then I like to tinker. :O)
