Subject: Do Not Forget Vic 1-2 ,Mike 1-2 $$$$$

Niles ( ) posted Sun, 11 January 2004 at 11:50 AM · edited Fri, 29 November 2024 at 2:56 PM

Merchants if you want my money do not forget that we have Mike and Vicky 1/2. I have Mike3 and Vic 3, but to be honest I hate both of them and use them rarely.

xantor ( ) posted Sun, 11 January 2004 at 11:57 AM

I think that vic 3 is just too big to use (in megabytes). I mainly use eve1 vic2 and posette.

xantor ( ) posted Sun, 11 January 2004 at 12:05 PM

There is still plenty of new free stuff for victoria two and I have seen some for michael 1 and 2 also. It seems foolish to abandon older figures for vic 3 and michael 3 as well as making a lot of the gallery images look a bit samey. "making a lot of the gallery images look a bit samey" that is going to be a bit unpopular with vic3 and mike 3 fans.

V2 with Roxanne 90% of the time.

Traveler ( ) posted Sun, 11 January 2004 at 12:13 PM

I totally agree! Vickie 2 with Roxanne and M2 with Boris are about as good as it gets. It's sad to see the lack of support for the version 2 figures.

Anything made for m3 i don't purchase, m3 is one of the worst figures ever made, after all this time, you can look at a render even without a face and know immediately it's m3, the joints and musculature are like rubber and very unrealistic....Don't have or use v3 so no comment on that matter.

Niles ( ) posted Sun, 11 January 2004 at 12:27 PM

Great Pair use them often, and love them. Mike 3 Vic 3 "What exactly do you hate about them?" 1.the over look of Mike 2.memory demands of both 3.not user friendly/ both What kind of stuff are you specifically looking for? 1. Nice textures 2. every day modern clothes for both 3.Period Clothes for both NOTE Clothes for the MIL Boy of any type

I haven't liked M3 for some time now. Tried to get some things fixed to make it a better figure (i.e., joints for one) but got hackled at by the majority of the community. They all said work with it awhile. Well, I've worked with it since day one and still don't like it. M2 is still the best male figure DAZ has done and like Trav said, with Boris, it's even better. New is NOT always better.

I totally agree on this topic. Cherokee, I notice you've been one of the first to say there was something wrong with M3. I spent some money on M3, buying him textures, clothes and other stuff. I've been working with him for a while now and I can't get nothing good out of him. This makes me somewhat uncomfortable since new M3 products coming out at DAZ are most of the time M3 products. I agree with the idea that merchants should not forget M1/2. Some time ago I got involved in another thread concerning the same subject in a DAZ forum. I posted a picture to show my point of view. I'll post it here as well: Texture is Edo with Pjaj's short hair. M3 on the left. M2 on the right. I specially dislike M3's shoulders.

Mason ( ) posted Sun, 11 January 2004 at 1:45 PM

Actually I think part of the problem with M3 was Daz's implementation of the universal mesh. Basically if you're going to make v3, m3, freak and other's out of the same basic mesh, you're not going to get a good return on any of them. Like in the above pic, M3's pecks are way too high (probably as a compromise for V3's chest), middle length is too long (again that would work on V3 but not on a guy) and his thighs look too ballooned. Plus M3 just doesn't have an impressive stature.

Niles, if you don't have one, I highly recommend a subscription to Poserworld. There's TONS of stuff for M1/2, V1/2, and the MilKids there. Including some really cute historical clothes for the kids, yes, even the boys! Me, I love M3. The only thing I don't like are those weird traps. But they are easily fixed. I like his slender, younger look. But I think I've forsaken V3 for Steph Petite. Anyone who makes her clothes, especially fantasy clothing, has a good chance of getting my money. :-)

Niles ( ) posted Sun, 11 January 2004 at 2:00 PM

Yep I have one(subscription). Steve is great about taking request, and it is well worth the price. Thanks Steve.

Avengia ( ) posted Sun, 11 January 2004 at 2:26 PM

I personally don't use M3 or V3 either. I'm not a rich person, and have to spend my money wisely. Paying another $40 for a character that has too many flaws that I have heard of is something I can't bring myself to do. But, I do use v2 / M2. And I too run into problems with finding clothes for them lately. I see a lot of wonderful outfits for v3 that I would love to use...but alas, that little number 3 keeps that from happening. So I am stuck using the same freebies I have had for the last year, with an occasional purchase from the Marketplace. But it has to be something that really catches my eye. I would love to buy people's products....if they would remember v2/m2 still existed.

I just wanted to let people know that I am in fact in the middle of making character sets for the version 2 characters. ( Not steph, as I dont have her.. ) Im converting my Rhiannon texture and morph over to V2 as well and have 3 M2 textures and characters currently in the works too. You've not been forgotten.. Im just slow g -stace-

This is the kind of thread that makes a girl feel good. My thanks to the very kind Boris and Roxanne supporters. :) Cherokee, I haven't forgot M3. I still plan to get back to him this month. Here is a pic of him with his (left) muscle morphs and with some I have created. Note that I have used a few of the DAZ morphs in combination with mine; some of the calf morphs, some on the arms, and the serratus. I rendered these some months ago, so don't remember the specific settings. I don't know that I can fix what others find wrong, but I hope I can give him a different look for those that would like it. And Niles, I hope to get some more clothes morphed up for the Lit'luns as soon as possible. :) Beth

Beth, more than a willing tester here, if you need one. M3's a weird mesh to morph. My only real complaint is the way his chest is cut. It causes problems when scaling his shoulders in any way shape or form. Not EVERY guy has shoulders that broad, just like not every guy has a waist that wide. :( I'm really hoping Daz will come out with a teenage male to compliment Steph Petite. (One that's thinner on the Z scale, too, dimmit!) Niles, check over at PoserPros. I did a male model for M1/2 a few months before M3 came out. His name is Ganymede, and I made him primarily because there are very few teenage males for Poser!

The "Puck" character supposedly can be used as a teenaged male. Guess we'll find out soon -- he's probably going to be in the store any day now.

AlleyKatArt ( ) posted Sun, 11 January 2004 at 5:15 PM

Puck looks interesting, but his head is so... out of proportion. The one I want from Dodger is She-Freak. She looks SO cool.

Beth, Sure hope the M3 Boris turns out as good as the M2 Boris. I hope your going to be able to do something about the neck, that underarm problem, and the elbow joints.

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Sun, 11 January 2004 at 6:12 PM

I think most people have forgotten that Ratteler since he doesn't have any morphs. Has anyone tried tailoring or morph moving morphs over to him? Just wondering. The reason I like the M3 figure is that he is in proportion ... I have sized him up to an artistic guide and he lines up perfectly whereas the M2 figure doesn't line up at all. If you give the figure joints and and a starting point that works with the artistic ideal then it should be easy to morph into something that is proportional. Since M2 was never proportional artists look at things created by him and think that the legs are off and short and the torso is too long etc. I am not too crazy about the traps on M3 and there are a few other gripes and changes tha I might make but he is a good starting point and one that fills the gap since a lot of people complained that M2 was too muscular. Just my 2 cents.

randym77 ( ) posted Sun, 11 January 2004 at 7:39 PM

Yes, I think M3 is more realistic. Even the traps, though I don't like them, are like the ones you actually see on many men. M2 is more like the "comic book ideal." But if you put the figures next to photos of actual men, M3 is more realistic.
