I use the trace technique too on more complicated poses and have a special "overblown" model made just for this purpose. I use this technique as a trainer though meaning I try and stear away from it when possible so I learn how to draw. You may want to do the samething with eyes and such and force yourself to do the drawing. One other thing. This technique can be really bad for anime. Anime is extremely fluid. Poser figures are very stiff. If I were going to do this with anime I may just pose the figure on screen then draw from the screen as a reference only. Just my 2 cents.
