Subject: Fantasy/Treasure Map or RPG Gameboard?

Neyjour ( ) posted Wed, 21 January 2004 at 4:33 PM · edited Sun, 01 December 2024 at 2:08 PM

I've been searching for a free Fantasy/Treasure Map or an RPG Gameboard, but am having no luck at all. Found a knife/map in the Free Stuff area here that looked great but I think the site is down (can't read the language!). LOL! :( Any help would be great! Thanks, Ney

I'm not sure I understand the question? Are you looking for maps of fantasy lands? There are oodles of jpgs and gifs if you do a google search for "AD&D". I could also draw up a quickie in my mapper if you like. I've attached a little example of my work.

Thanks Ihiannan (your work looks wonderful!) but I'm looking for a 3D prop of a map to use in a Poser scene. I wanted something that looks old, like a treasure map with burned curled edges, or that just has textures of a fantasy land instead of "real world". Hope that makes more sense. :)

Its not textured... but if your up to mapping it there is a scroll model at 3dmodelz that might fit the bill... http://www.3dmodelz.com/Free/downloads/downloads.php?action=file&id=348 oo and lhiannan - that is just flawless! Really clean - you have a great style there :) HTH! ~ Suede

Oh. Well, not freestuff, but if you have $9.95 to spare, dcort has his posable scroll. It's a pair of rather nice props, multiple segments so it can roll or droop or what have you. I've used this often and like it.

And BTW, the map is made using Evermore 88's Mapper in the AD&D Core Rules program. And then retouched in Photoshop :D

Hey lhiannan, What program did you use for that map. it is awsome. I have use for something like that for a story i am writing.

VI Knight, see post #5 above :D More of my maps can be seen at alia_j.tripod.com... Click Enter then click Atlas on the left. Erm, turn down your speakers... I made the site a while ago and didn't realize how annoying it can be, but am too lazy to fix it.

I could send you a high-res copy of the continent map from my fictional setting, but I gave it to Dark_Whisper for use in his Ancient Book product, which is now owned by DAZ.

I made a couple maps for you if you'd like them. They can be put on a Poser square prop or whatever you'd like. Here's some thumbs. The actual images are quite hi-res (1558x1036).

Just because I don't have anything better to do with my limited time off it seems (LOL), I made an image showcasing my little map. The map is applied to the Poser Box and deformed via magnets and a wave.

I'm so glad that program is being used! {hug} You are doing nice work with the mapper. Carolly

Thanks for your help guys! I really appreciate it! And Ihiannan, thank you SO much for the maps ... they are really beautiful!! And will be perfect for what I wanted. I haven't used magnets before, so I'm going to try it out and see if I can come up with something similar to what you posted above. Thanks again! Ney

Carolly, I completely forgot that you'd done graphics for it... :D I use the program all the time. Of course, I've bent it to the point of almost breaking to get 20+ years of house rules (our version of AD&D 2e is a mishmash of old, old D&D, AD&D 1e and 2nd ed, with some other stuff thrown in for fun. Mostly, we play with an "idea" of the rules in mind). Core Rules and the Exp were the best Christmas gifts I ever bought myself, LOL. Neyjour, would you like the high-res originals for the maps? they are something around 500k each. I could email them if you like, just IM me... Same goes for anyone else following this thread that cares to have them :)
