Subject: Changing background color in apophysis?

Probably a silly question, but how do i change the background color in Apophysis from black to either an imported background or preferably an alpha chanel? Do I need to do this with UF3 or is it doable in apophysis?

Hi Eric- You can change the background color, but you can't import backgrounds or use alpha in Apo. You would have to do that in another program like UF or Chaos Pro.

Ok, thanks. I'll get UF. I don't have the "adjust" box, but then again, my version of Apo is 101b, not 2.0. Thanks.

Apo 2 is available by joining the Apophysis mailing list. At the bottom of each incoming mail that you get is a number of email addresses, including one marked 'beta.' apophysis-subscribe@lists.fractalus.com Mark Townsend, the author of apophysis is coming near to completing the program, and he wants to get feedback about any problems, which is why he requests that you join the list. He also gives information and hints informally there. I'm sure you would enjoy that program Eric, and it is also free.

Is this a yahoo list? Last time I did that I got harvested and spammed sunny side up.

No, it's not one of those wacky Yahoo lists. I highly recommend signing up. There's a lot of great info shared.

Any idea when Apo 2 will be available to everyone?.....I'm still using Apo 1....would like to play with 2 beta, but don't want to get spammed either....

There is no spamming, just people interested in Apo. Open a yahoo email account just for that purpose if you are concerned.

Eric, I'm also on the Apophysis mailing list (as a quiet guest...). tresamie is right, there is no spaming and you get a lot of tips about Apo. You can ask as much as you want and always get answers from Mark or someone els! I think Mark Townsend, the author of Apophysis does terrific work!!!

I took the plunge. So far so good. Love APO 2. Its faster. Had to change the gamma to 1.0 but that was easily done. I guess there is no alpha channel in apo. Does anyone know if that is doable in UF 3? I have the demo of UF (which crashes a lot on my machine). Might spend some time trying to figure out how to do alpha channels. Might also spend some time figuring out why it doesn't like my system.

There is alpha available on UF3. On the outside tab of the Layer Properties window, in the 'Flame Fractals' UCL, under color settings. Left click on the color bar and look at bottom slider (opacity). Slide it all the way to the left (0). That will basically remove the background.
