Subject: SR3 problem

I purchased Poser5 from Reiss, and installed it. Aside from a few bugs, it seemed to work fine. Then I downloaded and installed SR3 and the SR3 Figures updaters. After that, Poser5 would crash at startup. I tried several reinstalls, some without installing the SR3 Figures updater. No change -Poser5 crashes at startup. Emailed CL but they haven't gotten back to me yet. Wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem, and if so what you did to resolve it?

Do you have an error message or does it just completely fail to load? If there is an error message, what does it say?

I get a window which pops up while Poser5 is still doing its splash screens which says that there has been a problem with the poser executable file and which gives me an option of sending or not sending Microsoft an error message about the problem. Whether I choose to click 'send' or 'don't send' Poser5 then crashes.

An error at that point sounds like a corrupted EXE file, rather than anything in the Poser code. Can you re-download the install, or did you get it on CD? Also, have you checked the install (and your system) for viruses?

Thanks Morpheus ;-) You could try deleting the poser.rsr file in the Poser 5 main folder. (Make sure it's the .rsr file, NOT the .exe file!) I understand that this can sometimes become corrupted. Might be worth a try before trying a full reinstall.

I redownloaded the install. Checked system for viruses. Same problem. I deleted poser.rsr - Poser5 couldn't load without it. CL still hasn't gotten back to me. =;-{ I mean I guess SR3 is not totally vital, but I still want it...
