Well, I realize that this exactly NOT what you asked for, but I ran the scene on a dual 1.8 GHz G5, and the render took 1:40. So at least that tells you that there is a Mac that can beat the Athlon. If the G5 took 5 minutes, you could pretty much forget about the G4!
