Subject: Biggest pz3 you managed to render.

To my surprise the scene file for my last picture weighed in at a whopping (at least to me) 59 megs. I am just curious, what is the biggest scene file you ever managed to render successfully?

Anything with a Vicky 3 in it is going to be over 100Mb. My record so far is a pz3 that weighs in at 479Mb. It contains 3xVicky3 and 3xVicky2. I haven't managed to render anything larger than this without layering renders as background images.

Just looking through some of my pz3s now. The biggest I found so far is 307Mb. It didn't render, due to the insane amount of lights I put in there.

Ya know, for me Meg size has nothing to do with what will render. I have a PZ3 that is 182M that renders in about 30 seconds with no problems, yet I have one that is 71M that I have NEVER been able to render, my comp just freezes entirely. I have rendered PZ3's that were over 250M but I don't have them on the comp anymore to test.

I think it's more the lighting rigs and their shadow maps that slow it down. I have a complex lighting rig plus a couple of additionnal spot lights to create localised shadows. I find that those lighting rigs although making for nice renders tend to lack those normal shadows that object make.

I did a 287MB render. It had 8 Michael 3s, all with hi-rez textures and wearing the M3 Hoplite Armor. It took nearly 4 houres to render

Vicki3 doesn't have to be that weighty-- I did a christmas pic with two V3's and the Freak-- just 99MB. Mind you, no one was wearing much clothing. but there were props and stuff. Emily

Forgot to add, at least two hi-res textures as well. Em

240 Mb. Has 256 figures, incidently. ;-) I couldn't get the 512 figure version (480Mb) to render, though.

Got this one to render, as a little test, as I expect the other one was pushing Poser's limits on figure count. 5 all-morphs loaded (which I seldom do) V3s, actually Ingenue Vickies, boots & hair. PZ3 is 612 Mb. Rendered in about 2 minutes in Poser 4.
