what will be in that class exactly ? aside from that, about the "status animation guy" i once saw a trick to modify it or delete it so it speeded up a bit poser rendering. Sounded weird to me and nonsense, but i once tried and it worked, but i lost the wbesite that was talking about that and reinstalled poser since then.; i remember it may had been abotu text editing a inner file or poser. anyone remind of this ?

geep ( ) posted Tue, 03 February 2004 at 4:59 PM

I will cover that (speed-up) momentarily. ;=]

I read in some big book that I must render unto Caesar what is his, so I better pay attention so that I can get it right.

geep ( ) posted Tue, 03 February 2004 at 6:21 PM

Matthew 22:21 Jesus said: "Render therefore to Caeser the things that are Caeser's and to God the things that are God's." But I don't think he had a copy of Poser ... ;=]

I'd like to add that on a Macintosh, the file you're looking for is a QuickTime movie. Here's a screen shot.

So ANY QT movie? Even a snail, or an inchworm? (Where did I put that inchworm, now that I need him?) Maybe a little pilgrim, making a pilgrim's progress? Or I could put the Jessica Rabbit dress on PhilC's female troglodyte and have her strut down the catwalk! OK, I'll retreat back to my corner now. Carolly

Riddokun ( ) posted Fri, 06 February 2004 at 1:38 AM

how works the "resolution setting" ? what is it for exactly, how it can impact on the final render ?

geep ( ) posted Fri, 06 February 2004 at 11:04 AM

It does not appear to have any effect on the size or resoulution of the render.

hmm yes i realised that.. but sure it must be useful for something, but what... i mean if it was useless why would it be put here. i once thought that settign it will adapt proportionaly the initial display windows (and so the future render) into "printable" dimensions you aimed maybe... but it is not. I thought it would be somethign regarding quality of the picture, as long as you want to enlarge it or not, but such thing also mostly depend on compression algorythm of save file format.. i am puzzled :(

geep ( ) posted Fri, 06 February 2004 at 11:44 AM

Here is a possible explanation. When software is developed, usually the person who generates the code for the GUI is not the same person writng the code to implement the function, i.e., "resolution." Therefore, the GUI (display) may be in the code but the code to actually perform the operation may not have been completed and, therefore, does not do anything. This is just a guess. ;=]

oh yes, you will bring up the "set up animation" trick... i think it should have been implemented in poser 5 by now... it is dissapointing we still have to rely on this trick, but once get used, it becomes an automatic habit... I think that except for test or base renders, nearly no one would use limit of render wndow.. and as you point at it, except for textured mode, you cannot render anything else until with this trick. see, i would neved had guess sketch mode could look so nice at very high resolutions, i guess that some sketch settings (such as crosshatch, type of brush, randolm lines etc) would only really show their effect in such context... I let you explain the trick, i was glad the day i learned it, and i am sure there still are people who miss it (saw a thread even two weeks ago)

bip77 ( ) posted Fri, 06 February 2004 at 6:35 PM

Resolution: Some image formats save the resolution setting as part of the image as a hint, how big the image is intended to be for example when printed. Some programs use this information. I use 'Picture Publisher' which uses this info for printing/print preview as a suggestion. So 640x640 pixels with 100 pixels/inch gives a 6.4x6.4 inch printout while with 200 pixels/inch gives only a 3.2x3.2 inch printout. (This can be adjusted anyway - but it's a starting point) Hope this makes sense. ;-)

Riddokun ( ) posted Sat, 07 February 2004 at 2:07 AM

bip77 well, i guessed it had something to do with physical printed size.. thanx for making thing clears, it helps so far in the file format poser can export/save to, i only see PSD that would keep this information... maybe TIFF also...

I never used the sketch function because of the limit on the render setting... Thanks again dr geep! This opens up a whole new way to play with Poser!!!
