Funny I just came from the Amapi forum where I complained of a problem about using Amapi 7 for creating Morph targets. However the scaling technique which was also suggested for by Amapi tech support worked in Carrara 2 but for some reason with Amapi 7 it did not work for me...Anyone have any luck with Amapi 7???

mathman ( ) posted Wed, 04 February 2004 at 6:43 PM

Thanks Doc, Very timely for me, as I have just learnt how to create morph targets in Amorphium 3... regards, Andrew

Riddokun ( ) posted Wed, 04 February 2004 at 7:23 PM

that brings me one question... i once loaded a MT made for a collar, but applied it on the opposit collar.. guess that when i turned the dial it was a total mess.. but this made me wonder one thing: is there a way to "mirror" or invert a prop or a part/group of a figure with poser ? i am not talking about making simetrical morphs on same figure (MT mirror is a nice tool that does it), but for example you makes a morph target for one thing that often goes by two symetrrical inverted parts (collar, legs, arms), how can i use the MT i just made, in anyway, to make a "correct" duplicate for the opposite pat of the pair. Also if i have one prop, and want a mirrored/reversed version of it ? (exemple: hair patch props, such as in animedoll kit...) can it be done with poser and editing ? or do i need a more complex 3d modellign software ? (or any "free" simple one that could make this) ?

VI_Knight ( ) posted Thu, 05 February 2004 at 7:33 AM

This will come in very handy.

geep ( ) posted Thu, 05 February 2004 at 10:25 AM

Hi Riddokun, Q. "can it be done with poser and editing ?" A. No, not to my knowledge. Sorry. ;=[ Q. " ... or do i need a more complex 3d modellign software ?" A. Yes. cheers, dr geep ;=]

is there any "free" simple/easy low end modellign software you coudl recommend that could do the task ? (anim8tor, metasequoia, wings3d ? anything) ? or if you know about cinema4d maybe ?

geep ( ) posted Thu, 05 February 2004 at 12:12 PM

Hi Riddokun, Yes, you could use the "mirror" command in "Anim8tor." cheers, dr geep ;=]

thanx a lot... btw about my question on MT applied on teh "wrong"/opposit part of a pair of actor groups ? i know they had same vertices number, but it puzzled m at the time i made trhe mistake.. applied a lcollar mt to a rcollar part of the figure... had a nasty surprise :)

Bobasaur ( ) posted Thu, 05 February 2004 at 6:39 PM

When you make an internal MT is it saved with that particular .pz3 file or that character file (in other words, everytime you use that character you have access to it but no other characters could have access to it)?

xantor ( ) posted Sat, 03 July 2004 at 10:51 PM

The MT is saved with the pz3. It is saved with the character file if you resave the character after making the morph.

Hi ACE, RayDreamStudio (not free) is no longer available. ;=[ It was replaced by Carrara Studio (also not free). ;=] You can look at Carrara Studio on [Eovia's website here.](http://www.eovia.com/home.asp) However, there is a free program called "Wings3D" ... ... to be continued ...

geep ( ) posted Thu, 24 February 2005 at 8:18 AM

Does it do the same thing with a different figure or just the one you made?

Phoenix_ACE ( ) posted Fri, 25 February 2005 at 7:12 AM

just the one i made,.. but when i put the bones i resize some of it to fit my model,.. then readjust the joints, bending and twisting manually,... do you think this is the reason? 2nd question: are the figures rescaleable?

geep ( ) posted Fri, 25 February 2005 at 8:11 AM
  1. Yes.
. Try putting your figure in the Pose Room.
. Turn all IK chains OFF.
. Use the Joint Parameter (JP) Editor to "zero" the figure.
. Do a "Drop to Floor"
. Save your figure in the Figures Library (this creates a .cr2 file)
. Open the Walk Designer and select the "FIGURE TYPE" and load your figure. (the .cr2 file)

  2. Yes.
. Just change the "scale" parameter.

hello i want to ask is there a way to export a facial expression on poser? i tried making a face expression like anger or sad and exported it but when i open it in another 3d application it seems that the expression is in default. please help thanks :)

geep ( ) posted Tue, 17 May 2005 at 5:10 AM

file_96985.gif

DO NOT export it "As a Morph Target" (check box) ... (UNcheck the box to include MT data) All morph data (expressions, etc.) are removed before export if you check the box. (see graphic above) cheers, dr geep ;=]
