You can now buy the Cubed babies as individual figures for 24.99 Euro each. The clothing and prop pack is also up for 9.99 Euro. The animation pack will also be 9.99 but is not up yet. Chris

Using today's current exchange rate, the individual figures are: USD $31.73 AUD $40.72 Just an FYI for those like me who don't use Euro's :) Having given birth to 3 of these little monsters I'd say you've got the look spot on ;) Really great work.

The product pages say the packages contain an rte-file. Which is the seed file for that?

The poser 4 nude infant - everyone that owns poser has it. Chris

Will you be offering the animations and poses separately as well? I did not see them on your website and I would really love to purchase them, too.

Yes - they are going to take a couple of days to clear RegNow's staging process. We're working on a new clothing pack and another animation/pose pack right now as well. These babies are going to be very well supported! Chris

The cubed babies are built on the p4 infant?

ChrisD ( ) posted Fri, 13 February 2004 at 3:35 AM

Not exactly. Cubed acquired the rights to beta materials of the unfinished P5 baby from Curious Labs. There wasn't much to begin with but it had used the P4 as a base so there is still a small amount of P4 mesh in some of the body parts. The head was originally the P5 head which we were NOT given permission to use, so the head is 100% original. Most of the body was ripped out and rebuilt but it still started it's existence as the P4 baby back at Curious Labs. For that reason, it was prudent to use RTEncoder to ensure that the original licensing from DAZ is not breached.

What is the purpose of the RTE Encoder...I don't get it...color me stupid...Never had to use it before, what's it's purpose? Thanks for tolerating my ignorance ;)

ChrisD, I have to say, Wow! I purchased Dylan last night and he is wonderful! He is the best purchase for poser that I have made in a long time. I am really looking forward to your Animation/Pose packs and your new clothing pack. Thanks again.

What is the purpose of the RTE Encoder... RTEncoder is an encryption/decryption utility, and serves the same purpose as Maz's Objaction Mover. It allows you to encode a mesh in such a way that it can't be extracted and used without a special "key" to unlock the cypher. For instance, Lemurtek's Second Nature figures are built from the existing P4 figure meshes. To legally distribute these modified meshes, Lemurtek encoded them using the Posette or P4 Male mesh as the key. There's no way to use the Second Nature figures unless you already have Posette or the P4 Male (who are included in P4 and P5). I did something similar with my Millennium Catwoman figure, which was derived from Victoria and the Millennium Cat.

I just gave a very complete description of the reason for using RTEncoder in the Poser forum - I'll copy it below. Here's the story - please read it carefully... Curious Labs gave Cubed the rights to use the unused beta content from Poser 5. We were given written permission to develop and sell products based on this material. The baby was a partial mesh that wad been derived from the P4 baby body and the P5 head. We removed a lot of mesh and built it up from there. After releasing the babies, Daz (with whom we have an excellent working relationship, as we do with Curious Labs) informed us that Curious Labs did not have the right to give us the permission that they did. Together, we came up with the simplest solution. By using RTEncoder, everyone that owns poser can use the babies. This doesn't offer a solution for a Maya version, however. If we create a version 2, we will probably rebuild the body mesh to eliminate any dependency on legacy content and free the licence for all formats. As for Daz Studio, we will discuss that with Daz and I'm sure we will come up with a simple solution for that as well. BTW, Daz have said that we do not have to recall any of our original sales, nor did they insist on us stopping sales until we had the encoded version released. They are easy about the whole thing. Daz and the Forge (and now Cubed) have a long history of co-operation and mutual support. We deal fairly and honestly with everyone and they deal the same way with us. There is no scandal and no feud, so please understand that everyone is cool with this. Did anyone have any other questions that they would like answered? If you're wondering about the animals, they are all 100% original - built from the ground up. I'm going to bed now - I'll check back here in the morning. BTW, we have the individual babies, clothes and poses available now. Chris
