I'm probably way of the mark here, but the only time I had a similiar problem was when I tried adding another 500 meg of ddr ram to my motherboard. The RAM was generic to the original 1 GiG that I had installed but was a different manufacturer. It installed fine and showed up as 1.5gig in the system information folser. However if tried to start any RAM heavy application it just locked up, as you have described. So in summary have you added 2 ram sticks that were made by different manufacturers or have you installed the ram sticks as per the motherboards reccommended guidelines. Hope this helps :o) MaRv
