I think that what is referred to in the tutorial is the same as what is mostly known as a template. You can find templates for the Poser 5 people here in Free Stuff. They're used if you want to make your own textures, so that you can see where to place what G The face Room, while a good idea, isn't really working too well. There are simply too few points to pull to make it really look like anyone in particular. It is great for caricatures though. But one of it's limitations are the small textures, only 512x512 as far as I remember, which doesn't really leave any room for details. A good, high rez head texture can easily be at 2000x2000 pixels. Silly Sue, you're right about the display modes. I just don't think it is what is needed here. I could be wrong though as I haven't seen the tutorial in question. We can just hope for DrGeep to make a Face Room primer soon :o)
