Made for TrekkieGrrl, but I decided to share it with everyone. :) Available in freestuff, now.

Very nice! Just in case some Trekker complains you might designate as New Klingon Head, STM (Star Trek Movies), or STNG (Star Trek Next Generation). Some folks are real picky about whether it is Original Series or later versions. Keep up the good work and thanks for the freebie!

Gareee ( ) posted Tue, 02 March 2004 at 10:35 PM

since this works with M3, will it work with the FREAK? He'd be an interesting klingon...

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

Hehe, d-larsen a TOS Klingon wouldn't really require a morph, now would he? Thanks again Khrys, this is so awesome! Now WHERE did I put that tribble? ~TrekkieGrrrl

When I first got Poser, nearly 2 years ago now, I looked for a Klingon head and couldn't find one. My mum is a big Trek fan and I wanted to do a picture of her with a Klingon. At last!!!! Thanks very much - this is the biz.

hauksdottir ( ) posted Wed, 03 March 2004 at 5:00 AM

Oh, that's definately new Trek! Soulful eyes. Sensitive lips. Warm and fuzzy demeanor. :shake head: That guy wouldn't eat a tribble if he was starving. Any real klingon would be setting up the shish-ke-bab rack while this guy would be reciting "ode to a tribble". Pah! Carolly ;^)

AlleyKatArt ( ) posted Wed, 03 March 2004 at 6:42 AM

laughs I just did nothing with his facial morphs so other people COULD. The only things I did change were cheekbones, nose, forehead and eyebrows. If people want him to look angry, there are M3 morphs for ir. :)

I was kidding. (And I think Khrys caught that.) Even the Poser baby can look evil with a spin of the dials. Hmm... would a Kingon brush on a marinade, or would the fur soak up too much of the juices? Carolly

I made one a few minutes ago.  But, I'm trying to wade through the ins&outs of creating an injection pose file and stripping the geometry.  I've never done that before so... :)  Anyway, it's just a quick and dirty morph for a klingon female.  I worked off a picture of one of the klingon characters in TNG but, not sure which one.  There's not a lot of geometry at the top of the head to get fine detail but, you can either scale it up to about 1.7 (any further and it looks bad) or use some creative bump-mapping if you want it "pointier."  The forehead is much easier to work details into than the top.  Here's a standard, default light render (yuck.. why do people want to use those?) and one with better lighting"

Now... I just have to take the time to experiment with creating and stripping injection pose files.  But, hopefully someone out there will do a much better morph and save me the trouble.. :)

PS - If there aren't any other offers for a V4 Klingon morph, then let me know what you want changed and I'll redo it a bit.  Of course, it's all dependent on me figuring out injection pose files... ;)

Morkonan ( ) posted Fri, 06 February 2009 at 7:51 PM

Oops.. forgot this one:  Morph at 1.3 intensity. Smoothing on so you could get it a bit spikier with that off.  But, it really needs a bump map to look right.  Meh, maybe I'll just do that too.

ooo yes! any and all variations are good. the more the merrier ..
how a bout just doing a morph obj? it's simple and easy to use.
fingers crosses you get what you want done with it.

Looks good. But I think even the klingon females has this little thing going down their noses, too? (I don't have a pic of a female klingon right at hand.. so I'm going from memory. Remember Lursa and B'etor  aren't really typical looking Klingons.. they're the pretty ones ;)

It's against "the Rules" to redistributed the mesh. :)  I suppose I could pack it with objaction Mover (IIRC) or whatever the object verifier program is.

Yeah, I worked off a picture of one of them so the little/big ridgeline isn't there and it's a kinder, gentler Klingon lady. heh heh.  (I'll rough one up a bit to add some variety.)

However, I can add that as a separate morph so you can have the "cutesy wootesy Klingon chick" or the "opens beer bottles with her nostrils Klingon road-chick.."  :)    It also needs a "dome head" morph to make the ST:TNG "Forehead of the Week" stand out a bit more if desired.

Not a problem in any case.  It's really easy, the only problem is figuring out how to pack it. Modeling I can do.. packing it Poser-Style within the Licensing (stripping geometry) is something I'm not used to.

So, four morphs:

1) Klingon Female Forehead of the Week - Lite Ridges

  1. Klingon Female Forehead of the Week - Has worked the streets for Cheap - Rough Ridges
    3) Klingon Female Opens Beer Bottles With Her Nostrils - Nose Crosshatching
  2. General Purpose ST:TNG Forehead of the Week - Beluga Whale Bulge

Not a problem. :)

OBJ morph targets are OK provided you squish the file properly.
Another simple alternative is to use a carrier CR2 for people to use with MorphManager.

Yeah, I'm reading up on "squishing" by just removing some object info.  There are also several tutorials out there on general creating morph&morph injection poses and some with accompanying utilities.  But, most don't specifically point out whether or not the method being used removes object information and satisfies redistribution concerns.

Getting into how the files laid out and the various bits of info in them isn't something I have done so, it's new territory for me.  Not too difficult to understand but, sometimes difficult to see whether or not certain questions are answered.

All you need for the two methods I mentioned is a text editor (or a specialised Poser file editor).

An additional advantage of both methods over an INJ morph is that you don't have to pick a channel and hope that your not clashing with something else being INJected.

Yeah, I'm going to rip out the geometry info and just leave all the vertice manipulation info in there (lines starting with "v") as recommended by DAZ in providing morph objects without reverse-engineerable geometry info.  But, for some users (Macs and pre Poser 5 or 6, can't remember atm) they might not be desirable.

This problem is solved by putting a fake face line at he end of the file :-

f 1 2 3 4

I assume that would be something I would put in the obj file and not something those who would be susceptible have to add themselves for compatibility issues?

I also have no way to test to see if I've done it right as far as compatibility goes in that regard.  So, I'll have to rely on feedback when someone downloads it.

Correct.

Have at least one Windows and one Mac user check before opening downloading to everybody (especially important to make sure you've squished properly).
