There are a lot of people pushing the envelope with Poser and creating photo-realistic characters. I think the main constituent to making real looking people is the introduction of inperfections so that they look like a person you can easily on the street. That having been said many people are trying to use Poser to express fantasy or idealized "beautiful" human forms--so I can't fault people for not making their images "gritty". How many truly homely people have you seen in the average commercial or Hollywood production? One of my bones of contention with Poser has always been, however, that they have made it difficult to create less than beautiful people. Creating realistic fat people was a real challenge using just the tools that Poser 4 and below provided and if you could create such characters clothing them was even more difficult with so-called "conforming" clothes that simply wouldn't conform. Beauty is very subjective, and consequently a lot of my Renderotica offerings have not illicited much comment because I've created pics with men that were not the perfectly morphed muscle Micheal.
