If you present it well, people can SEE it isn't crap, and if the price is $5, it's a no-brainer whether to buy or not. On the other hand, if it's $30, a lot of people will say, well - it's nice - but do I really need it that much, like, $30 much? Since your unit costs are the same whatever price you charge, the strategy that maximises your return is not obvious. It comes down to psychology.
