If your so worried about someone popping up and plagarizing your work then there a two solutions: 1) Use your real name instead of a handle and 2) Go through the formal process of getting the material together and legally copyrighting it. It'll cost you some money. I find that most material I read is so similar it could have come from anywhere and I'm not so vain to think that my writing is so totally awesome that nobody anywhere would have though of something similar. If I were going to write to sell rather than to "get known" I wouldn't put it out there in the first place until the bucks were on the table. If your writing to "get known" then posting in as many places as possible is your route to claim a piece. Courts will always go by the earliest date. I view copyright infringement as a very serious matter so much so that I use images from my camera most of the time rather than clip art. My family is often seen in my pictures because anyone else's picture being printed or posted should have a release signed.
