AHHHHHH! BONEPART! I absolutly love Tank Police, it was the first ever DVD my family bought, and the first ever anime movie I saw! This is going to be KICKASS! And yes, I too have been bitten by the modeling bug, but not for poser. Just modeling a few Green Hill Zone objects for the 3D fangame Sonic: Dimension Wapred.

Nanoshi ( ) posted Sat, 03 April 2004 at 8:18 AM

hehehe thanks Insomnia I'll check those tutorials out later, I took a quick look at the Lamborghini one will have a go at it, see what I end up with :) I was having some trouble making some shapes but managed to figure some solutions out, but the car tuts look like they use the method I needed to use. Yeah it is very ambitious which is why I kept it quiet until I was confident I could pull it off lol, but after I got the tracks and gun in place I looked at it and thought yup thats Boneparte so posted it here for all to look at :) My eventual goal is to create some power armour like the Landmates used in Appleseed. I think they will be 'kick ass' to coin Senshi's phrase :) I know that's what I would buy if it was in the MP.

triggermansam ( ) posted Sat, 03 April 2004 at 8:36 PM

just giving my shouts of encouragement to 3d and Nanoshi. I look forward to the dress and Bonepart! Spirited Away was a fantastic work of imagination. I watched it with high expectations since it was from the same guy who did Princess Mononoke, but I was still amazed. I'm glad I saw the subbed DVD version.

but you may have heard of the character that started the toon poser model revolution G.I.R.L. by Kim Goosens. well he said he would never sell it, but good news for us is he has cracked and agreed to get her poserized and she will be on sale at DAZ. Now she is going to be one popular model when she comes out purely from the hype the model has had since it first appeared in several art magazines. now it may be a good move to make clothes for this model, like I said it will be popular so if we got in early we could make a killing, just a thought... I have included a link to an interview with Kim which has some shots of G.I.R.L. I would post the Daz article but it's Platinum club forum at moment.

Grimjerk ( ) posted Mon, 05 April 2004 at 6:17 AM

I went out and read this article when DAZ annouced that they obtained the rights to distribute G.I.R.L, I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. She's kinda cute, but her proportions (sp) just seem so out of whack to me, those feet look like flippers :). I'm going to pass on this one, I passed on SP3 as well. I just can't afford to get all new clothing (again) and it would just take time away from converting clothing to fit MD, I don't even use Animedoll that much, my true passion is for MayaDoll :)

insomniaworks ( ) posted Mon, 05 April 2004 at 9:37 AM

I looked at the new cartoon charactors and I don't like them much either. AnimeDoll is a classic. I did look at G.I.R.L. Nanoshi posted a picture, she is one of the best I have seen aside from AnimeDoll.

Riddokun ( ) posted Mon, 05 April 2004 at 10:07 AM

well i have to admit, as far as anime/manga style is concerned, Animedoll is so far the best character abvailable, but a special thanx also for the Yuka character, that can be seen as her "sister" in some way... but though i like animedoll, had been longing since much time to have a decent anime character and worked with her for past three months, i am still devoted to mayadoll basic (the free version :). btw i wonder if it would be possible to make an hybrid, mayadoll basic body with yuka head (as yuka head is a custom geometry tyyou put on p4 or v2) but as far as i saw, even if they "look" the same, share their clothes and MOST of their morphes, ad and MD do not behave the same way in cartoon mode (black lines of cartoon /w line mode of mayadol basic are screwed. hmm who care i can make lines myself now. only problem would be to remove the lashes !)) see ya

-Yggdrasil- ( ) posted Mon, 05 April 2004 at 10:13 AM

Oh... that G.I.R.L. Yeah, I know about her. I like her construction better than NefToon or Sara or Koshini. She actually runs 3rd on my list of top models, with Anime Doll being first and Maya Doll being second. As for hybrids, that's something that I have been toying with for the past few weeks. Plenty of time, ya know... >_< Anyways, I haven't put Yuka's head on Maya yet, but that sounds like an interesting project. I've mostly been fusing Anime Doll with animal body parts and other doll parts, as you may have noticed in my gallery lately.

Nanoshi ( ) posted Mon, 05 April 2004 at 10:31 AM

I fused anime doll head on vicky 3, found some tutorial somewhere, it was ok but I hate the vicky 3 body, it's so dumpy, but if you use the dials on her body to make a more nicer body shape half her clothes no longer fit her unless they have been made with the injection morphs in mind. and I don't own the tailor, and I can't get to grips with the clothes converter, although I havn't used it since I got into modelling so might have a better grasp of it now. the G.I.R.L. thing was just a suggestion for a new market which will open up soon and will be very popular, no-one said you all had to ditch Animedoll for her, was just thinking about future market developments for the team. I love Animedoll as much as I love anime :) Yuka doll is that that other anime like doll? I looked at that originally but didn't like that one, but I'll have a peep at it and fuse it's head onto Maya's if ya like, after doing the vicky one I know more or less what needs to be done.

-Yggdrasil- ( ) posted Mon, 05 April 2004 at 10:34 AM

Yuka (PwithP) has that Koshini-type face style, just more anime-like. I like Yuka's eyes. Big saucer-shaped object sitting right on top of her head. I prefer Yuka's body to Victoria's, but Yuka's body has a lot less morphs... and I'm not about to go in and fill her with morphs. Sometimes the effort is not worth the trip, know what I mean?

Riddokun ( ) posted Mon, 05 April 2004 at 10:47 AM

nanoshi i heard abotu the ADhead/v3body hybrid madness.. as weel as for v2 thing don't mistaker me and take no offense, but i think it is a solution of lazyness and ease.. sure it is interesting all the market is bound to daz characters. but if you bhave like that, nobody will ever continue to suppot a character (a new one) unless an hybrid exists what the poin of modellign a full character then ? just model a head, and give uop clothing and such i repeat again, it is interesting, the technical skill involved is nice, but i don't feel easy, myself, to diss up mayadoll and animedoll just to FLEE back to vickies. sure animedoll and mayadoll have flaws, they are "young" characters, and mayadoll appeared as FREE and original geometryin a market dominated by vickies. she survived so far, her greatest rival was AD i would say. but for such characters to survive for so long and now growign abit popualr, i think it does not desserve to hide ourselves the flaws and runa way back to confortable solutions. i think it is more a challenge and joy to take maya/animedoll wholly, as hey are, with theirquality and flaws, and try to work out to improve them !

SenshiTaurus ( ) posted Mon, 05 April 2004 at 11:04 AM

Now that's one insperational speech......i agree, their unique geomatries are what make them unique. If you want other clothes to fit them, use clothes converter. BTW, speaking of clothes converter, if i wanted to buy clothes converter, would I HAVE to buy it on disk or can I buy it downloadable aswell.

Nanoshi ( ) posted Mon, 05 April 2004 at 11:15 AM

you can buy it as a download as for the hybrid, I never liked it anyway as i said, I tried it out but never used it other than to test 'when tomorrow comes' I only suggested making a yuka hybrid or whatever cause you guys seemed interested, personally I'll stick with Animedoll.

-Yggdrasil- ( ) posted Mon, 05 April 2004 at 11:16 AM

If you want a project to fuse characters together, I have a suggestion. See how this flies... Anime Doll's head, Maya Doll's chest and collars, Yuka's arms, Anime/Maya's hands and fingers, Kadeko's abdomen, Anime Doll's hip, Sara's legs, Anime's feet. -or- Anime's head, Maya's chest and collars, the rest Anime.

Nanoshi ( ) posted Mon, 05 April 2004 at 11:19 AM

LOL that will be a monster :) I think you will get alot of tissue that doesn't match up, it's easy to hybrid some items like heads etc. but putting arms, hands and legs from various characters will prolly result in something from Toy Story ;)

-Yggdrasil- ( ) posted Mon, 05 April 2004 at 11:21 AM

LOL ^_^ Well, all flowed in together and re-sized appropiately of course. Mind you, most of that is from memory of what I liked about each of those models.

compiler ( ) posted Mon, 05 April 2004 at 12:42 PM

I have made a V2-AnimeDoll hybrid, because I have a huge library of clothes for V2 and I would like to be able to use them easily. I understand your point, Riddokun, but I haven't got that much time... (there is also a YukaVic at PwithP : a Vickie with Yuka head). Clothes converter is a good tool, but it takes you half an hour to convert clothing properly. I prefer to use magnets : they work very quickly and can treat most of the clothing I use. (The V2 to AnimeDoll magnet sets is not ready yet, however).

-Yggdrasil- ( ) posted Mon, 05 April 2004 at 1:13 PM

V2 to AnimeDoll magnet sets? I'd be very, very interested in such a thing. Very interested. That's partly why I have the magnets where they are on my AnimeDoll P5 setup. They're there mostly for the clothing, not the doll herself. She has morphs for that kinda stuff. But mine are basic at best... a "quick-fix" as they say. Gets the job done, but only for a particular pose. That way I don't have to keep adding magnets, just change their effectiveness to the clothing pieces. Since that time, I've begun working with dynamic clothing, so it's a moot point. Still, I'd be interested in anything you have to offer to add more functionality to Anime Doll. ^_^

Riddokun ( ) posted Mon, 05 April 2004 at 1:17 PM

yes i understand, for sure; especially when most clothconverting solutions are expensive and may requires much moe work to switch from v2/v3 to mayadoll than the daz to daz way... and yes i know that yuka is a head on a vicky, but the body was reshaped a little... you say cloth coverter gives out good results for yadoll ? could you how examples and maybe (with agreement from cloth makers first) post a few exemple of converted cr2 clothes ?(i asked markdc about that, he says that the licence of cloth covnerter did not forbid to post things -ak cloth coversions- made with itas far as he was concerned, but required approval from the cloth maker in first place) anywya vicky basic is not to my taste.. too occidental maybe. I rather like tenten. As for mayadoll even if she is a yougn character (and AD too), she is interesting though she has issues (made a thread about all MD/AD issues so far after nearly 1 year of existence); some pieces of herself are good, in shape or in bending, others are less good. but i really like her overall look...

Nanoshi ( ) posted Mon, 05 April 2004 at 1:31 PM

yeah I like animedoll what I have big problems with is her thumb it doesn't seem to work properly, really awkward to pose in a realistic way, can't put my finger on what it is though. the funny thing about Anime is it is a cartoon way of how the Japanese percieve us Occidentals hence the big round eyes and the small mouths. They are as fascinated with the west and its culture as we are with the east and theirs.

-Yggdrasil- ( ) posted Mon, 05 April 2004 at 1:33 PM

There's that word again... I'm going to look that up and see what it means. "Occidental"...

Grimjerk ( ) posted Mon, 05 April 2004 at 2:02 PM

Occidental refers to/means westerners, literal deffinition is: ADJECTIVE: Of or relating to the countries of the Occident or their peoples or cultures; western. Grim

SenshiTaurus ( ) posted Mon, 05 April 2004 at 2:02 PM

Hey -yaggsdril-, i'm having problems with your Poser 5 Anime Doll. I have poser 4 so that might be the problem. When I click on the head it sais access violation and then only shows so many of them, and also leaves out the original morhps and the head position morphs. Nothing to do with this: I also get the access vilation when I open some files, mainly the anime doll dress in the freebies, and motsura's anime doll dress... Main question: What is the problem and how do I fix it?

SenshiTaurus ( ) posted Mon, 05 April 2004 at 4:26 PM

NOTE: And when I open the dresses, they won't appear. First it sais access violation then it stops loading and doesn't appear. And no, it's not invisible.

I beg to disagree with you Ridokkun, Vicky can be tweaked to look more anime-like. You can check the image above in case you're interested.

-Yggdrasil- ( ) posted Mon, 05 April 2004 at 5:41 PM

I have no idea what the "access violation" message means, other than the obvious violation of access. I've not seen that in Poser ever, and until now didn't realize Poser even knew the term. ^_^ Sorry you're having problems with her, the dresses and such. Maybe something vanished from your Poser installation? Been removing files lately?

Nanoshi ( ) posted Mon, 05 April 2004 at 6:00 PM

Hey Compiler, where did you get Kanaeda's Motorcycle from?

Riddokun ( ) posted Mon, 05 April 2004 at 6:16 PM

compiler: did not mean to offend anyone. is this a V2 ? i am impresed, but i bet the head is from hybrid ney ? as for occident/western word, english is not my native langage so i may have misused the word... nanoshi: well yes her thumb is a problem, all her fingers i would say, because too long, and the first phalanx bend in a weird way. in fact the theorical bending of the thumb WAS a good idea, but in reality it did not come well. but most other figure's hand also have other problems... so far i always had problem with v2 thumbs when playng at a friend's place (do not have v2 myself) so maybe it was because i had not ebough time there to try out more ?

The3DZone: I was reading back through the posts for the second thread (man did I get behind on this thread) and saw that pink and sheer dress you put together, I have to say I think that is one of the nicest dresses I have seen for MD, I would love to convert it and a longer skirt version to dynamic cloth... Are you going to do anything with it? I coverted this one (by SVDL, shoes by Rubio) from V3 to MD and it looks so much nicer on Mayadoll then V3. Grim

SenshiTaurus ( ) posted Tue, 06 April 2004 at 2:55 AM

I think the whole accsess violation thing is because I have the MetaCreations version of Poser 4. When I updated it, the dress from Ani3D worked...but MayaDoll stopped working (said i needed to change the amount of memory allocated into poser). Then I got the memory update patch, installed it, and it still wouldn't work.....so I went to the old version, and If I evr get enough money, i'll update to Poser 5. I think we should now get back to the topic about the catsuit and ideas for other anime doll things. Catsuit: If I ever get time, i'll find some reference pictures of KittyN from Bust-A-Groove (or Bust-A-Move: Dance and rythem action) and make a texture of her catsuit for the catsuit....i'm not sure about her mask, but I might also make textures for the cat ears. Ideas for anime doll: 1. I morphable towel that can be wrapped, crumpled, pulled, and comes with a template so you can make cute textures for it. Would also come with an extra bumpmap to make it look wet (is that possible). 2. Pajamas! Some sort of pajama pack with pajamas from numerous anime. You could have the cute 'silk shirt and silk trousers' pajamas from nuemrous bishoujo anime, or the 'unbuttoned shirt and some underwear' from Evangelion. Just all types of pajamas, even those night gowns. All with templates. 3. LONG TROUSERS! I cannot understand why no-one has made any long trousers for AD/MD yet. Jeans, flares, ant-fit, baggy, rapster, worn out, all sorts. Each with templates (yes, i like templates)...
