I've been doing research on ruins, Maya, Aztec and Inca, I saw lots of trees and vines, only a few date palms, bananas and no birds(but that could be cause they're tourist sites). For most of the sites on the Yucatan, inland and coastal check out the links, there's excellent photographic reference for images there...:)
