Subject: Dual monitor questions

I've use dual monitors for many years now. I've done it with two card set ups and with a single card with multiple outputs. Right now I'm running a 64MB Radeon 9000 series card with a couple of 19" monitors set at 1280 X 1024 & 32bit color depth. I find that the single card approach works better. If you are using an open GL application and move it from one monitor to another it doesn't stop displaying like it did with my old 2 card setups. If you do use two cards you normally want to set the AGP card as the primary display. This is usually a bios setting. This really only makes much difference if you are gaming and want the best card for the game display . . . Also, I prefer to set both monitors to the same resolutions and color depth. If your two monitors or cards are substantially different you can set them differently. Also, I'm running Ultramon - it adds some nice features that are particularly handy if you are in a two card setup. Most of the single card/dual display cards have some similar utilities bundled . . .
