When I hear "brooding" it makes me think of gray skies and clouds, maybe in the evening. Anyway, so far it is looking real good. The 2 rocks farthest out look placed too perfectly. The 3 rocks could be scattered a bit more. Everything is leading the eye to the right until you get to the darker water which is almost parallel with the bottom edge. Makes it a bit distracting. I keep looking at that rock on the right. It isn't really shaped like a rock. I'm also working on my composition which I have a hard time with, so I'm practicing while looking at your image. :) You have a really good start here. Can't wait to see what the point of interest is. :)
