Checked out Corel's site and noticed there is a Bryce 4.1 patch dated 9/25/00. Maybe it's a better patch. Anybody try it? Thanks http://www.corel.com/support/ftpsite/pub/Bryce/4/index.htm?GXHC_gx_session_id_FutureTenseContentServer=410c39c4b8d26dc9

As far as I can tell, its the same 4.1 update thats been out since August that updates Bryce 4.0.1 to 4.1

I noticed that too. But why the date change to this week?

I dont have a clue about the new date, I couldnt find anything on their site abut a update 4.1 patch, they still have the rehashed MetaC text on that page. I also noticed the way they have things worded, the volumetric presets are new, which they arent, the same that was realeased with the original 4.0.1 update that Meta put out before selling out. They are in a serious need to have someone redo that page entirely and be a little bit more descriptive. Id expect better from a company such as Corel whose been around for so long.

its the new patch and it fixes all the problems with the other one. The screen is not dark now, the advanced display modes are back, volumetric material render times are back to normal AND it also supposedly fixes the early mac problem. I had to reboot my machine before it worked properly, but its definitely worth getting BT

It is not the same patch - though it is named the same. It restores the lighter interface and the optional 3d view types under the wireframe cube (hold mouse down on it to see them...). I didn't mind the darker interface which seemed to bother a lot of people in the prior patch - it was barely noticable to me. The volumetric world rendering and even working in in that mode is still wretchedly slow (but then we none of us hardly venture there anyway - perhaps for that reason). Get it though cause you'll probably need it for the next patches or releases. NOTE: that you do not have to have installed the prior corel 4.1 patch - this new 9/00 one will upgrade perfectly from the MetaC version. - Dave

Sneakily, if you read the rest of the web page referenced above, it later mentions "bryce.exe version 4.1.0.2". The August patch installs version 4.1.0.0, and the new september patch installs version 4.1.0.2.
