Steve, I wasn't looking for freebies, and if I'm going to order, I'll be talking to a human on a phone, I don't do anything on the net with my credit card. I don't like "login" more because the default for "newsletters" is never "don't send". "Premium" to me means "Pay a premium price" which might explain that I didn't look there. I get "tetchy" about it because I've had to navigate some pretty miserable sites to find things, and I won't do it anymore. If the list isn't where logic says it should be, I'm gone. Most of the sites I visit are industrial suppliers, and the first thing on their page is the search engine. I usually find what I'm looking for pretty quickly and then can go on to the special offers etc.
