Thanks Graham, I'm cutting and pasting this and sending it to my friend. I'm supposing the program will come in the mail tomorrow. Supposed to be new in the box and hopefully has it's manual. The Carrara was new and still shrink wrapped. Huge manual in there, it weighs a ton. She's made me some great props, some spiked wrist bands just tonight. She'll be in the market for a better computer too in a couple of months, so I hope we'll really be cooking. She can't find in Amapi 5 how to assign groups and material zones so I've been doing that in UVMapper (don't have pro, yet). I was pretty familiar with UVMapper, but had never done assigning of groups and material zones, so I'm learning a new trick.
