I was far too long-winded in response. Thanks to Mason for remindign me about what was nagging me - just iamgine a current-day 3D card trying to knock out a 300DPI poster-sized image of 3 Vicrotia-3's with Poser 5 wind-swept hair eh? But in all honesty the main reason IMHO that people keep thinking that video cards will speed Poser up is that, year in year out (whenever one of the larger video shops has a new chipset to tout) the vendors keep telling people that they will. Oh - not directly - but year after year they've given details on how quickly and superbly the latest card can "render" out triangles, possible with real-time lighting and shadows and even bump-maps and lordy-knows-what-else now. So while they don't mention Poser by name (rightly) their images of happy smiling (or coy pouting, or whatever) girlies rendered at 75DPI manage to sway a few people into imaginging that instant top-quality images are just around the corner *for us*. I couldn't resist a quick example of some differences between display mode and firefly. Admittedly the scene is still too simple, and far from finished, but it reached a point where I think it's fairly easy to see that the "display mode" isn't being *terribly* accurate to the final output. I may try and re-create my "Like Rock" scene for a betetr example with no hair (if I ever get the time). Cheers, Cliff
