I doubt the name will change for version 6. However, if Curious Labs does decide to take the program to the next level and offer some serious animators a better workflow and toolset, then I have said in the past that it would probably be in their best interst to make multiple user-levels and price tags on any particular release. IE., Version 7 Pro, Version 7 Artist. One would be a more powerful version and have a higher pricetag. That said, I believe their best bet at selling the higher end version to professionals would be if they rename the software for that particular demographic. The name "Poser" has an ugly stigma in 3D communities outside of this one, and a fresh start would definitely help sell the program to a wider customer base.

Well, let's see... It's a 3D application, it simulates a photographic/movie studio and it will probably maximise the number of features available. Hmm, nah, it'd be a silly name. ;) How about, "This One Works Out Of The Box, Honest" ?
Coppula eam se non posit acceptera jocularum.
Or, following Photoshop, they could drop the number completely. How about "Poser Artist SE" (for "Sixth Edition"). --John

Since we can be dead certain that Poser 6 will move even farther from animation, favoring still-lifes even more strongly, I think a good name would be Repose.

" Since we can be dead certain that Poser 6 will move even farther from animation, favoring still-lifes even more strongly, I think a good name would be Repose." If that's the case, then they should name it "The Software That Never Was". Why incorporate such things as dynamic hair and cloth and not strengthen the animation functionality of the software? Perhaps not in Version 6, but future versions should definitely progress to the animation market if Curious Labs has any hope of increasing their base revenue and get their software used in a broader and more financially enriched medium. Heck, even Discreet realized there's more to life than just the gamer's market. ;-)

Shadey Figures? Figurama? Humaniform Studio? Naked Vikky In A Temple With A Sword Renderer? Pinup Pro 3D? Shade Studio? ...and so on and so forth. They could spend their entire development budget working on new names for Poser 6 and then cobble together some quick pythong plugins and a few bug fixes for the actual software... Cheers, Cliff
I think that it should stay poser but I like the Poser Artist SE, just teh SE makes it sound more professional.

Hey, Does anyone think its time for Poser to change its name to something alittle more cooler. Here's one for starters 3dPose3d, PowerPose, 3dgod, Figure, or just 3 & etc...
