Hi Mist, welcome to the forum, can't think of any tut's right off the top of my head, but a good way to try and pull it off is to do it by hand on a seperate layer in Photoshop (works best if you have a tablet [like WACOM] to draw with...) and build up from there...

if i understand you correctly, you want the effect of the water being displace by the contact with the figure. Would it be the same principle of doing "folds" in fabric on a form?? The difference being the surface "plane" is more horizontal...
