I find that Renderosity, or the Poser aftermarket in general, or possibly just the degree of "burn out" goes in cycles. Taking an (unannounced) break from the forums can do the world of good for my attitude. Also while at times the whole drag of "it's porn"/"is it really art"/"how old is that model?"/"Lightwave users look down on me and make me feel bad, but I'm a really talented 3D person!"/"where's that nude dead horse in a temple to beat" type topics can jade one somewhat, the occasional thread DOES get interesting. Quite aside from the attempts of several members to "help out" others (witness Little Dragon, or even our very own (to this thread) Khrys) you occasionally find the additional delight of someone thinking outside the box, however slightly. I was thinking about this after a response to someone else on how little anyone pays attention to what one says unless it's a direct aid to a Poser problem... and I was overly simplistic in my response. MOSTLY you can come up with all the inisght you like and you'll be completely ignored - but every now and then someone DOES go "You know - ya, I wanna think about that a bit" but, better still, sometimes someone else says something that makes you go "Ooh - now that's an interesting thought". It happens - not as much as I'd like, but then I'm atypical of most things, apparently :) Greed is a terrible thing, but Renderosity has had a distinctly mercenary side for some years now - indeed their store may well be the very thing that's making companies like CL and DAZ think that perhaps they could benefit from being "Jacks of all trades" rather than just the "core businesses" that they used to be. The community however, is a combination of everything from the marvelous to the mundane, the straightforward and the political, the earnest and the sarcastic. The old AND the new - a sea of diversity :) Cheers, Cliff Cheers, Cliff
