Subject: Team 3dZone, Nanoshi, and Insomniaworks Development Forum Thread Number 5

SenshiTaurus ( ) posted Sat, 01 May 2004 at 2:23 PM

Are you sure Insomniworks? Fine then you tempted me enough! ^_^ The only ones i don't have is the minidress textures and the bondage fairy kit. I don't want the harness 'cause i'm not interested in that stuff.... BTW, what happened to that little hair progect with the chun-li like hair pictured in your harness thumbnail?

compiler ( ) posted Sat, 01 May 2004 at 3:34 PM

No problem Marty. I thought you might want to include these textures in your MP package, that's why I used those silly names with less than 8 letters. If you'd rather have me put it in the freestuff, no prob. I'll make a package tomorrow, with more understandable names. I'll also include a smart magnet to move the string at the top of the bikini, so that it behaves better when posed. The wetsuit looks really awesome ! Can't wait to see it finished !

ok, i finally finished reading all i missed! whew! HAPPY BIRTHDAY SENSHI!!!!!!!! great start on that outfit insomnia,it looks wonderful :0) i've been reading you guy's discussion on converting clothing, and i'm gonna tell you how i would do it, and how i think it could be done by the modellers who made the items to begin with. i know i'm still a newbie at modelling ,but this is how i would convert clothing. when i model a dress or whatever in lightwave and it's finished,i have to freeze it to make it work in poser, but i always save an lwo(lightwave file)version of it in case i want to change something on it. so basiclly to convert it,i would put the dress on the new model in lightwave adjust the parts that don't fit, freeze it and save it for the new model..simple as pie :0) the3dzone

Well... I've gone and done it now! Heh. Any old Poser freebies you guys want, I have an FTP server up and running. I don't know how long it'll last, so grab 'em while they're hot! ftp://yggdrasil.dyns.net/ I've dropped back into this crazy business again of sharing my stuff online. And I have a lot of stuff. Enjoy it while it's hot. My bandwidth sucks, so I make no apologies if it takes forever and a day to get what you want. =P

Here is the swimsuit so far. I am giving it a look over in poser checking for flaws in the geometry. You are looking at the first zipper I have ever put into a piece of clothing. marty

compiler ( ) posted Sat, 01 May 2004 at 5:34 PM

It looks terrific ! How is the polycount ?

-Yggdrasil- ( ) posted Sat, 01 May 2004 at 5:42 PM

Sorry about that... server died, computer rebooted. Looking to see how to get it back running again! LOL. Ok, I think it's up. Nice suit! Very nice. Like the zipper placement. That's just begging to be unzipped...

The3dZone ( ) posted Sat, 01 May 2004 at 5:44 PM

insomniaworks ( ) posted Sat, 01 May 2004 at 7:15 PM

Thank you I don't know what he poly count is but it is quite high, but not too high I feel. It no worse than catsuit for its size. I will check how low I can make the mesh and still keep enough detail, but I tend to forefit low poly count for high detail. marty

The3dZone ( ) posted Sat, 01 May 2004 at 7:33 PM

just an idea, could you put extra material zones for stripes down the sides?or would that be too much work? :0) the3dzone

Its looking very very nice marty! I have clothes converter but so far I'm not real peased with it. at least with the auto scaling and MD. Mut yeah, I seem to have a niche with morphing clothes, at least with mags.

SenshiTaurus ( ) posted Sun, 02 May 2004 at 4:23 AM

Hello! Today is officially NOT my birthday...... So now, on with the news! dong Insomniaworks has inputted his first ever zipper! dong Clothes looking good so far! dong Clothes Converter is beginning to lose popularity! Good day!

Well, I've finished packing up the add-on for the Summer Wear outfit. I cannot put it up in the freestuff for the moment since the outfit itself is not yet in the MP. For people here who already have it, you can already download the add-on pack at the link above. It contains textures, MAT poses and a magnet to help the Bra's string follow the character's moves. Since this was made on a PC, with Poser5, I would appreciate if people working on Poser4 and/or Mac would tell me if it works all right for them. As for the wetsuit, Marty, it really looks awesome. I have a soft spot for wetsuits (and I know I'm not the only one here...). My question on the polycount was about the zipper. I haven't seen any working zipper based on geometry so far, so I was curious to know if that would inflate the polycount too much.

insomniaworks ( ) posted Sun, 02 May 2004 at 8:36 AM

Thank you everyone, Compiler, I had a feeling that question was based around the zipper. Yes, the zipper of course adds more poly count, but not so much to be a problem. In other words, the trade off is WELL worth while. I am very proud of this suit, and it don't look 1/4 as good with out the zipper. The zipper is not "working" - I mean it don't zip up and down - its just for show. If all goes well the wetsuit/swimsuit alone will be in testing in the next day or so. I will take a very serious look at putting a stripe material zone down the sides. Thank you 3d. select-copy marty

-Yggdrasil- ( ) posted Sun, 02 May 2004 at 10:01 AM

"select-copy" ^_^

insomniaworks ( ) posted Sun, 02 May 2004 at 12:12 PM

file_107448.jpg

Here it is with the side stripes inserted as The3dZone had sugested. I have left all the trim "white" so you could see where it is. This trim serves a duel purpose. It is not only for apperience, but is needed because splits in Rhino are not always perfect - especially when cutting thru fabric with wrinkles. I needed to put the trim in to hide flaws in the cuts. So it goes with out saying that these trims are not connected to the main mesh. In fact, there is not main mesh, every where there is a material zone, the geometry is split. This outfit would be impossible to convert with P5 animation tools for this reason. But, from what I can see now, I think it could be converted with magnets. The trims can be made the same colors as the rest of the materials and you will not see them if you wish. Select-Copy Marty

SenshiTaurus ( ) posted Sun, 02 May 2004 at 3:22 PM

Hey, i'm getting better at rhino... Now i'm gonna see if i can do what i've always wanted to do: A 3D version of Dianne's mage outfit. (RPG World)

Great images compiler! Happy belated b-day, Senshi. :) The zipper looks great! Will there be open zipper morphs? :) Koshini & Company has a large following... ever consider supporting 'em as well? Especially the new older looking Krystal. A product for both her and AD wouldn't be that far off.

ThreeDee: If you watch Channel 44 at 6:30 in the morning, Sailor Moon is on every weekday morning. At least she was last I checked. She has had that morning spot for many years. I am going to try to get up tomorrow morning and check my self if Saior Moon is still on. Great recommendations on outfits - really - I need the ideas on for new packages. Also, I am thinking my self about that mono-fin. I would probably model a different one than I alread modeled. The last mono flipper was an exact copy from Nuku Nuku, and it looked a little too much like a seagull foot actually if you ask me. yggdrasil: If I do any swimming gear, it will be unique. Compiler: Nice work on the ninja there News: I am been working on the swimsuit today very little. I have it running and in the process of perfecting the fit and adding JCMs to correct pokethrus. This was meshed a little differently than I usually do, that is I used less polys than I usually do. You will find that this product will load up real quick. I am not sure yet if it was wise though, because it comes with compromises. The geometry looks real good with no choppy edges, but its a little more prone to pokethrus because of being less polys. I will correct all reaonable poke thrus with Joint Controlled Morphs. Also, another thing that is a change with this swimsuit is I have not put any buttock groups in the swimsuit. When you pose the thighs, the swimsuit crotch will not move or distort. This like everyting comes with a trade-off. When you move the thighs forward, a poke thru tends to appear in the rear buttock area of the suit. I have already created a Joint Controlled Morph to correct for this and it works rather well. When you move the buttocks, the suit crotch will move, so I recomend not using buttock movements or using them very little. I recomend the opposite for the mini dress where it is best posed in the bottocks rather than the thighs. I may be happy enough by tomorrow to release a beta of the swimsuit. Other news: Sales are still too slow. Way too slow. The SummerwearOne will be released by Friday and I am trying to have this swimsuit package ready to submit by Friday. I am hoping that the next two releases in the next two weeks will cause some in the publics buying habbits toward my products. My strategy now is a simple one, I am attempting to put out one product per week....thats very tuff to do, and it still may not be enough. If sales continue to be low in my store, I will begin working on V3. Many of ThreeDee's sugestions look great! select-copy marty

Thank you Caly!!! Did you get the Final package? I can tell by the shoe MAT that you are using a the beta.

insomniaworks ( ) posted Mon, 03 May 2004 at 7:01 PM

I hesitate to ask this, but I see soo many great pictures. Does anyone want to submit any promo pictures for my store, I will give you credit? I am trying to get one product done per week and I have little time to just relax and I have to be relaxed to be creative on my promos. marty

insomniaworks ( ) posted Mon, 03 May 2004 at 7:09 PM

I am working on the uvmapping of the swimsuit and it looks pretty good, not going to be much problems. I have yet to add all the JCMs and clean up the files. I feel confident that I will have a beta of the Wet-Swimsuit tomorrow. I am also asking for sugestions on names for the suit. I have had a great idea, maybe the regulars here on my forum would like to get involved in a site to promote MayaX and his Animedoll along with all my products and other products for money and free. We all could contribute to the site with pictures and commentaries. I will ask management if I can run a link from Bannors to the site. marty

Grimjerk ( ) posted Mon, 03 May 2004 at 8:09 PM

insomniaworks ( ) posted Mon, 03 May 2004 at 8:43 PM

file_107453.jpg

Actually Grim, I can only use untouched renders or untouched toon renders for promo pictures. Although, I am tempeted to use yours because it is art, it would not be illustrative. Here is a picture of how the suit is comming, am pretty far along now. There are a few drawbacks or flaws with some of the trim near group boarders, it is still a great outfit and performs well in most poses. It will be a very inexpensive package so it is a great value. marty

Riddokun ( ) posted Mon, 03 May 2004 at 8:49 PM
