I typed a long letter and I lost it because I forgot to select and copy. Here it is in a nut shell yggdrasil, killer eyes... thanks for asking about my newest swimsuit. I am sort of burned out with modeling right now and I am being destracted very much by real live activities. Money hasn't been enough lately to keep me working on current product ideas. I will finish the swimsuit over the next few days, but I am not making any promises. Afterwards, I am going to go in a new direction to recapture a secure place in the Rosity Top Sellers. Riddokun: Move the joint until the group explodes. make sure you have the group selected who's movement makes the other group explode. (many times its the same group) Open up the Joint Editor - (you must be using PPP) Select the offending movement in the first box (bend for instance) There will be 3 boxes with center points Add a digit to the end of one of those numbers, I sugest one for minimal adjustment This will make the exposion go back to normal if not tweek until it works but keep your adjustments very small by adding another digit afterwards, exit the joint editor and save the figure again. A new cr2 will be created with the proper adustment. select copy marty

I just looked over your maps for Jewel and I am very impressed. I am impressed with both the size and detail. Your map looks first rate to me. I had to scale down those body maps to run on my old computer lol. I guess its time to upgrade. Here is an important issue. The eyes are a mirror images of one another. I mean the reflections should not be mirror images. The reflections will be show the location of lights in the room or location and will not be in opposition on either eye. Being a photographer my self, I often look at the eyes to of photographs to judge what type and position of lights being used. Your eyes tell of two opposing light sets - impossible in real life. This is only my sugestion, but I would sugest scaling her head up some more. I set her head at 113% and it looked better to me and I think it reflect the porportions of a young adult better. I guess it my be because I have worked with animedoll so much that v3 looks small. But my artist eye tells me that v3's head is just too small as a default. I have run it thru all the MAT poses and they all worked fine mechanically. I didn't open them up with an editor though, but they passed the usage test. Just make sure they read version 4. In conclusion, the only thing that is outstanding and needs to be fixed is the eyes which is a simple task. Other than that, she looks great and I don't see any reason that this should not be a great seller! marty

thanx for the freebie 3dzone yggdrasil cutes eyes./ still makes me uneasy i dunno why but it sure is some changes here :) maybe because i am actually browsing countless anime picturs, fan arts or hcg pictures to watch the eyes and make my new versions for non anime doll :) did you try to make the biggest/center white reflect to be a ligther tone of iris colo ? what would it look like ? or i think you shuld make a trick to see the pupil under the big reflect very ligtheend but here maybe make another circle size of the pupil OVER the white reflect, but paint it light grey (to pretend the black pupil behind the white reflect) try ?

Riddokun: Like all of my previous efforts to model something (all two of them), this one is much better in the way it's built. Each piece is a whole seperate object. That means the Iris is one whole object, the Pupil is one whole object, the individual Speculer pieces are a whole object in and of themselves. That's how I got them to morph. That also means that each one is able to be textured seperately. That means you can do just as you suggest, making the Highlight part semi-transparent, along with it's border if you wish (yes, there is one, and it lies right beneath that Highlight). I'll render and show a picture soon of the different pieces in layers of transparencies right after I do this idea I was just thinking of while typing this. I made the big Highlight part and that little circle the same material zone, but now I'm gonna seperate the two. Name that actual part "Highlight". Also thinking about actually rebuilding (that means from scratch, not a morphed-up copy) my AnimeEye5 set (cat eyes). Another thing I'm going to do is make the eye completely round and let the end-user (that's you) scale it as it needs to be. I think that's the most flexible idea all-round. select all / copy

I don't quite understand what you mean by that last suggestion (probably because it's early), but not following your train of thought there.

Ygg / Riddo we always improve everytime we go back to the modeller and try again, so he will only get better. But the eye he has modelled is for his Sailor Scouts, and if you look at screen shots from that series, they do have these 'stupidly' large speculars with what I would say are trade mark lines coming off at an angle. normally anime eyes aren't so exaggerated as this. So as the eye goes towards anime eyes they don't fit the generic look but as regards Sailor Scouts eyes, I think he has almost got it bang on. But as you suggested he still needs to work a little bit more on them to perfect them. problem I see with them at the moment is they are 'too white' if that makes sense, in the cartoon they have a shiney wet look about them, but at the moment in poser they are too matt. I have no idea how you could go about correcting this little thing though, maybe try 2 material zones on the speculars and through shades of pale grey maybe achieve it, or one material solid one transparent? just quick suggestions would need to look a little deeper at it to see what works. on your old 'disc' vesrion, they used to seem a little too 'glowy' for my tastes, but maybe combining them a little might work? Also Riddokun makes some nice anime eyes for Maya as you know, maybe a similar technique for the speculars but maintaining the sailor moon trademark speculars? just my 2 penny's but I think you have captured the sailor moon shape very well.

Here's the link to the eyes I made, you will have to install them yourself in the right directories.

The .obj file goes in the Geometries > StudioMaya > Anime folder, right next to those other wonderful eyes we all know so well. I'd recommend, although you can put them anywhere you want to, you put the other files (.pp2 and .png) into the same directory you have the other eyes at. You'd notice they are #6 on the list, #5 being the cat eyes (I may soon re-do once I get something with Wings3D straightened out).

Don't forget that the eyes are morphable into 5 different default configurations (so far). I'm working on re-working the materials on the eye, like I said, so this is not that version. This is the one you all see so far. ^_^

Thanks for the freebee dress 3DZ, it looks hyper cute (or, more approprietly, kawai !). I'll test Jewel as soon as I get the second part. By what Caly and Angledreamer posted, I'd agree with Marty on the size of the head being a little too small in proportion to the waist and hip width. Can't wait to lay my paw on her ...er... to betatest her.

(Just back from the stage, and seeing your beautiful picture before I hit the sack). On second though, I think you're right about he head size, but it does seem small to me compared to the waist and hips. I think that what causes this feeling is that she has a very youthful face, which would call for a youthfull body, and thus a less wide hip and waist (just the x scale, the rest is perfect). But it could just be me having some sort of "standard" in my eyes (or having played too much with animedoll). I mean : there is no fault here, no anatomy error. It is probably just a matter of taste : I have already had this feeling with V3. Good Night. "See" you tomorrow.

SenshiTaurus ( ) posted Wed, 12 May 2004 at 3:48 PM

Speeking of 'child', wouldn't it be cool if someone made a body magnets that changed the anime doll into someone of Hotaru's or Chibi-usa's age, or the ages of the cast of CCS?

Nanoshi ( ) posted Wed, 12 May 2004 at 4:54 PM

Maya X did do a child size animedoll magnet thing but none of the clothes would fit properly afterwards.

-Yggdrasil- ( ) posted Wed, 12 May 2004 at 8:17 PM

I have forgotten (and not loading it up to see) what the scales were like, but I think Poser has that feature already built-in. Forget what it's called exactly, but the first option on the "Figure" menu. Just make sure everything is scaled appropiately. It's a dirty fix, but I recall it working for a certain elf girl I was making at one time...

SenshiTaurus ( ) posted Thu, 13 May 2004 at 2:29 AM

I tried it once.....it only makes her body smaller, but doesn't change proportion, so sh just looks the same but with a huge head......

Nanoshi ( ) posted Thu, 13 May 2004 at 3:03 AM

yeah we need a proper chiba doll making really, that's a whole nother style of anime doing those little people. their body is the same height as their head, but they still look proportioned so go figure :)

Riddokun ( ) posted Thu, 13 May 2004 at 10:58 AM

nanoshi: well i may had not explained what i meant correctly. i will post a "postworked" picture of what i meant (cause i am no modellist) so you and ygg can seewhat i had in mind. anyway it is true, some anime series (such as sailormoon) have exaggerated speculars, but well, maybe not as much s here (as far as i can recall). if you want i can build a whole samplelibrary of anime eyes i can find out in my stuff so you can browse through many different styles. as for the chibi anime doll, maya on his animedoll forum let out some samples of a child version fo anime doll (with clothes) and it seemed good, but so far we have no words of this project. i did try to make VERY crude and basic resizing myselfs (using the x/y/x % dials, no morph) as it will be able to carry out same settings to clothes too, but poses files do not carry otu the info. so maybe global magnets after that... no no no do not use the innate "character scaling" ability of poser .It was meant for use with native figures. try out on anime doll or mayadoll and you'll have something to feed your nigthmares... you won't end up with a child but a rosweell ! btw someoen was talking abou my eyes ? sorry but i didn't do ani eyes for the animedoll, as for cartoon use it requires to model myself (and i do not know).

Nanoshi ( ) posted Thu, 13 May 2004 at 11:28 AM

It was me i said you made some anime like eyes for Mayadoll which had a nice effect. not good for cartoon mode I know.

Hi 3DZ. I've tested your little jewel all evening long (it's 1:00 here... Yaaaawn). Here is a pure Poser5 render with no postwork whatsoever (I plan to make a postworked version for my gallery). The pack unzips nicely. The only surprise was that there was no read me, but I expect this will be fixed in the final version. Everything loads smoothly in Poser 5, from the INJ and REM poses to every MAT file. There are no deformations in the various poses I've tested. The clothes conform well to her. The only issue is that she is scaled to 85% of V3 scale, so may be you could provide a pose to adjust the clothing to this scale (and also to the narrow hips). On a more subjective topic, I like her forms very much and she can portray women from late teens (as demontsrated in your pic above) to late twenties (which is the look I tried to acheive here).

Here is a face close-up. The face seems a bit long because of the 50mm focal length I used. The textures are really great at close up !

compiler ( ) posted Thu, 13 May 2004 at 6:10 PM

file_108288.jpg

Another one at 100mm focal length, again unretouched render (save for the added background). Don't blame me for the lack of expression : I don't have V3's expression pack yet, so it's just V3's base expression : Jewel in herself has a very pretty face, even with nothing added. Oh, and the jewellry (as seen on the first picture) is a very nice bonus ! Best wishes, and thanks for letting me have a good time with your Jewel. (PS : I haven't spotted obvious seams problems in the texture. I'll check this again tomorrow).

The3dZone ( ) posted Thu, 13 May 2004 at 6:29 PM

Wow!,thanks for all the images Compiler I'm very glad your having so much fun with her (the v3 head morph pak has an expressions folder :0)) Yes ,the readme is included in the final package...lol I started it after I gave the first package to you testers. I didn't think it was neccesary for testing. I did that whole clothing adjustment thing with my Allissa package and it was a nightmare! so this time all I'm doing is putting fit instructions in the readme. maybe I'll make a fit file free pack, like with Allissa. I already have one freebie for the pack,it's a belly ring that matches Jewel's jewelry,I may make earrings also :0) The3dZone
