"Apparently only one side is allowed to have an opinion."
As you know, that's not really true. :-) There's a difference between opinion, even emotionally overstated opinion, and zealous mischaracterization. Any singular characterization of that forum or its regulars is inherently problematic, as the regulars as well as the threads were diverse.
"I miss the parts of OT that were fun and irrelevant."
Me too! For example, I saw the new trailer for the forthcoming Pixar movie tonight. I'm not sure that "word is out" about this yet, and had the urge to post a link to the Poser forum. I had to stop myself because I figured that the thread would probably be deleted or moved to one of those only-the-staff-gets-to-see places. This is something that's going to be of great interest to many Renderosity members, certainly Poser users, but in lieu of an off topic forum, I have no idea where to share my enthusiasm and the link appropriately, at least not where it would get much attention or be literally off topic.
As regards the "I'm leaving" phenomenon, some people do indeed come back, although typically with less participation (e.g. pdxjims, caleb68) while others (e.g. Legume) do not come back. Teri and I were sometimes very much at odds in terms of political perspective (and sometimes in full agreement) but she is intelligent and passionate, and I'll miss her. This whole thing has caused bad feelings all around, for staff and members alike. Maybe it's time to discuss the situation more impersonally.
