Well, I'm a big Poser 5 fan and wouldn't dream of going back to Poser 4, but for the stuff you're doing I think the set-up you should aim for is Poser 4 (or "Poser Artist" as it is now known) combined with Vue d'Esprit 4. As a photographer, I think you'll find Vue lighting a lot more powerful and easy to deal with and also when you talk about extending your studio into a virtual world, I think you'll find that a lot easier to do with Vue, so my suggestion is to think seriously about adding Vue to your toolkit after you've got the hang of Poser. Vue integrates with Poser a lot better than Bryce and from my point of view it's also a much easier program to use, though both packages have their fans.
