Which version you buy depends upon what you want to achieve. If you are simply going to do still images with postwork for hair and draped clothing, then Poser 4 (aka Poser Artist) will be just fine. If you will want dynamic hair and flowing clothing and nifty layered effects with the materials, you will need Poser 5. (You will also need a more powerful machine and memory.)
