I think the problem that most are pointing out is not that the colors are light, but more that there is too much white space. It's like being snow blinded. Seriously, I had to put on my sunglasses to cut down on the glare. A light background is fine if it's left in the background, but when it becomes more than 50% of the image it becomes foreground and is very very hard on the eyes. Personally, if it had to be a light color I think y'all would have done better to go with a soft gray. Even my word processing programs have been adjusted to use a soft gray rather than stark white so that I don't have to deal with the glare when writing.
