well, I had Windows write and error to my Maxtor external hard drive and after a reboot windows could no longer read the drive. It acknowlegded that it was there but wanted to format it instead of reading it. I called Maxtor and they directed me to a program; Get Data Back. I used it to scan the drive and recover all the files. It was easy to do. The only problem was the drive is 120 GB's so it took 38 hours for it to scan it...LOL
