Hi,

I am a frenchman and i have just a question:
what kind of softwares do you use for your masterpieces ?
I think you use first fractals softwares like UltraFractal or Apophysis, but as i can see that's not enough...
maybe photoshop ? I am looking for tutorials about how i can create such global compositions.
Thanks for your help.

Bonjour, I personnally use Ultrafractal where I have written some ressources that are available on my website (see link). There are tutorials in French at http://www.parkenet.org/jp/uftutorials.html and I hope somebody is translating the helpfiles in French (not me) as somebody did it for Spanish. I use Photoshop for sharpening my images and make an 'adjust levels' and I occasionnally do some postprocesing in Painter. Une petite cousine du Quec, Miche

Bonjour Paul, I will answer first in French then I will translate to English. My main program for post-processing is Painter. I use Photoshop for 'Image/Adjust/Levels', 'Image/Adjust/Variations' and 'Filters/Sharpen/Unsharp Mask'. The first two ones are for balancing shadows, highlights, color. Painter is not very good at it. Sharpening is because images blur when they are rendered in formats that are compatible with other softwares and the Net and I want to recover the sharpness. I use painter for all the other post-processing I want to do: frames, signatures, effects and textures not possible in UF. UF is very changeable as it manages layers, channels and masks and many effects you can get from other softwares are also possible but not always. If you know a little programming you can code your own ressources (plug-ins). Miche

For my creations I mostly use apophysis and always photoshop. I also use Poser, bryce and other fractal software sometimes. I don't know about tutorials concerning fractals and photoshoppostprocessing. But If you got specific questions and think I could be of any help send me and IM.

Hi, Paul! I use Ultrafractal, almost exclusively. Usually, the only post-processing is in PaintShopPro, and that is only to add the signature. If you want to give fractaling a try, you could start with one of the free programs. (UF costs $59 US, I think) There are some great free generators. You can follow the link to find them, starting at http://www.fractalarts.com/ASF/Tutor1.html There are also some tutorials at that site. Or, check out http://www.fractalus.com/gumbycat/ForTheBeginner.html for some more info. Happy fractaling! Linda

Hi Paul, I use free fractal progs and PSP. I mainly use PSP for sigs and frames and such. It can also be used to tweak the colors if nessary. You can also remove the backgrounds and paste into another image. I've just started playing with the PSP plug-ins and there is so much you can achieve, it's hard to believe. Also for fractal programs, check out Paul N. Lee's website and Stephen Ferguson's website! Enjoy, William/paragon5
