I think what you are after is generally referred to as rotoscoping. In the full Carrara Studio program you can do this by (say) having a quicktime movie play on the background of your animation or as a texture on a plane somewhere. I don't know whether 3D Basics will do it. Otherwise you need a program which will composite your animation with your movie, such as Premiere - I expect there's a cheap/free one out there somewhere.
